The Evangelical Christian and the GOP

vote-header.jpgIn Gina Loudon’s recent article, 3 simple steps to a conservative in the White House, the author lists items that I have been considering for a while:

The elections in 2016 can be won by the right using three simple tactics:

1) The Christian vote: Only 50 percent of those who warm the church pews actually even vote in the general elections. The numbers for women who attend church and vote are even more abysmal. If every churchgoer who does vote brought one churchgoer who doesn’t vote, the election would be wrapped up for the right. This tactic would have even more impact in a primary.

2) Conservatives rally behind one candidate: Before Iowa, conservatives need to have a coordinated strategy to decide on one candidate, or they will get whomever the D.C. elite decides to hand them.

3) Eliminate voter fraud: After deciding on the candidate, and committing to get churches to vote, conservatives should dedicate the rest of their efforts to eliminating voter fraud and opposing motor voter, same-day registration and voting (California has this), and voting without ID laws in their state.

Should The Congress Let the Democrats Have Whatever They Want?

Capitol Place 2Rand Paul is in the news, with many others, that think that the GOP should just give the Democrats whatever they want, so they can own it:

I have yet another thought on how we can fix this. Why don’t we let the Democrats pass whatever they want? If they are the party of higher taxes, all the Republicans vote present and let the Democrats raise taxes as high as they want to raise them, let Democrats in the Senate raise taxes, let the president sign it and then make them own the tax increase. And when the economy stalls, when the economy sputters, when people lose their jobs, they know which party to blame, the party of high taxes. Let’s don’t be the party of just almost as high taxes.

[Real Clear Politics: Rand Paul: We Should Let Dems Raise Taxes and then Let Them Own It]

Seems stupid to me.  You were elected to do what was best for the country, and if you believe the Democrats plan is not good for the country, shouldn’t you go down fighting?

James Madison

Any in depth look into the Freedom of Religion in the U.S. Constitution must, at some point, take up the subject of James Madison.  He is the writer of the current text, and was very influential in the founding.  It is through his documents that those looking for the Founder’s mind go to as they ponder these questions.  We’ll look at some of his documents, his actions in Congress, and his writings later.

The Ultrasound

Baby UltrasoundIn high school, I attended a pro-life rally in which the 28 minute film, A Silent Scream was shown. In it, a twelve-week-old baby is aborted. Powerful.

In these days of increasing evil, it’s refreshing to fight on in the pro-life cause by whatever positive means we can.

Enter the power of the Ultrasound. Crisis pregnancy centers across the United States are using them with phenomenal success. There is nothing like seeing your active son or daughter, squirming on-screen, thumb in mouth, heart pulsing. And the newer 3D-4D sonograms are amazing. This parent-child awakening is saving lives. And it’s making the pro-choice front sit up and take notice.
