Crossing the Jordan

Dark Waves After 40 years in the wilderness, the children of Israel were about to enter the promised land.  They were standing on one side of the Jordan river, bisecting the land of Caanan, and about to apply a divide and conquer tactic, but one thing stood in their way—the body of water.

Joshua was about to lead the children of Israel through the Jordan river on dry ground, just like Moses had done with the Red Sea some 40 years earlier, but God had further instructions this time around.

Lessons From Joshua

Fortress ruins 10In regards to doing great things for God, I think that one of the reasons that we don’t see God doing the great works that He did of old is not that He’s changed or not that He’s silent, but that we really don’t believe we need him.

At what time in the world’s history has there been a culture with such prosperity as that of the United States.  Now, I’m sure there has been comparative prosperity at different times, but at what time has the poor among us had so much– so much that they would rather remain jobless than find a job!

Where is Elijah?

Torch For some weird reason I’m in a reflective type mood as of late. I think a lot of it has to do with the workbook I’m working through called Experiencing God. (You can find the link to it in my sidebar.) At its core is the premise that God is still at work in the world, and He wants us to join Him in that work.

Ok, pretty good so far, right? Then the screws tighten. He wants to do God-sized things through us, but we’re too busy being busy for God and all the while depending on ourselves rather than him.
