A Prayer for Preachers Before and After the Sermon

Do you ever think about how it must be tough for your preacher to get up, week after week, and proclaim the Gospel?  What an awesome responsibility!  Here’s a good prayer for them, from one preacher to another.

Why We’re On the Planet

My daughter has been asking all sorts of questions about Heaven—what it’s like why should we want to go there, etc.  This post reminds me of that, in that our kids asking us spiritual questions is an opportunity to pass on God to them.  Let’s not take these opportunities for granted.

Alabama Still Collecting Taxes for Confederate Civil War Veterans

Taxes are never temporary—part of why you can’t trust the Federal Government (or any government for that matter) on taxes.  Here’s a tax that was for Confederate soldier’s pensions.  However, the last veteran died generations ago, and Alabama residents were still paying the tax!

The Tell

Though this post starts out in an interesting way, the meat of it is the question of what are the quality of your relationships?  If you would leave somewhere, would you be missed?  Are you investing in someone, or multiple people?

Tom Coburn: Tax Expenditures Are Socialism

According to Sen. Coburn, when the government chooses to help one group at the expense of another, wealth is being distributed to one group and taken from another.  This is socialism.

Can a Playground Be Too Safe?

It’s amazing, but as I take my children to different parks I realize that they are much “safer” than they were when I was a kid.  And that has led to kids trying to do unsafe things with these “safe” parks.

Necessary Boycotting

Kraft and PepsiCo are using human embryonic kidney cells from aborted children to test sweeteners.  Can you believe it?!

There is no way that I could possibly comment on everything I see in the week, and while I’m trying to use Twitter to pass along articles that I find interesting, sometimes it’s a lot just to bookmark it and move on.

So, what I intend to do is to use Saturday to pass along links from the week that I found interesting, with some brief comments, and that way I can address some of the backlog!

Beautiful Girl 7 Welcome to the June 1, 2008 edition of carnival of modesty.  Not a lot of good submissions today, so I’ll have to augment them from sites I’ve found in my travels.

Lin Burress presents You Are What You Wear: What Your Clothes Say About You.

Theresa L. Twogood presents Just What If…What Then?

Louise Manning presents Quotes about dignity.

Links Time for lots of links.

I’m running a bit behind, trying to keep up all these blogs as well as write interesting posts, and keep up with the comments.

So, this week I’m going to do some rapid fire links posts, each one a given topic from my delicious account.

Hope you enjoy!

Text Link Ads – Promote My Site, Please!

TLA Billboard

Text Link Ads (and their accompanying banner ads) carry a similar problem to Pay Per Post, but they also pay better than most of the other money making systems.

The problem that’s similar to PPP is that people are trying to get links on your site so that they can get “Google Juice” and reach your audience. And yet these ads pay the best and allow you to have a great deal of control over what gets displayed on your site.
