I’ve always considered myself a Conservative.  In fact, I’m registered as a Conservative and find myself voting for Conservative candidates.  This identification has to do with bot social conservative values as well as fiscal.

The problem that I have in watching where the country is going is that I’ve observed a trend that proves that Conservatism may be contributing to a coming dictatorship, or a government that is opposite my social values.

Logically, this means that I should support less government as a way to keep freedoms alive.

The two major political parties in the United States are made up of sub-parties, each of them with different priorities or agendas.  During the last twenty to thirty years, the Moral Majority was a big and influential part of Republican party, with its major issues being social issues:  Abortion and Homosexuality being major ones.

Fast forward to 2010, we find that the the Republican party is now mostly a party of fiscal conservatives, and the libertarian group are showing their sway.

So, where does this leave Christians?

3 Ways Toward Getting a Electable Third Party Candidate

The reality in America today is that we have a two party system.  The Republicans and Democrats run the show, not because they’re the best and brightest, but because they have “electability” on their side.

So, what do you do if you don’t like either of the two nominees?  What if you think we’d be better off with another option?  Is that even possible?

As I said before, I’m a realist when it comes to these things.  As it stands, either Sen. McCain or Sen. Obama will win this election unless something catastrophic happens.

That being the case, how do we change this?

Do You Know this Man?

bobbarrThe man on your right—do you know who he is?  What if I told you that he’s running for President of the United States of America?

The man on the right is U.S. Rep. Bob Barr, and he is the Libertarian Candidate, and he asked something of the Republican and Democrat candidates for President that I think that they should take him up on:

“In congratulatory letters I am sending, I challenge Senators Obama and McCain to meet me in weekly debates in cities across America with just the candidates and a moderator to keep order,” former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr said in a news release on Wednesday.

Point of Order

I have an addiction. I try hard to avoid it. I don’t know why it fascinates me so. I don’t know when it began, and I don’t know that I will ever get over it. I’m addicted to process– the order of things.

Maybe it’s because I “invented” one too many ways to play card games with my grandmother growing up, or perhaps it’s because I always wanted to be “the one that knew the rules”, but I’ve always liked and have been fascinated with knowing what the rules are.

That’s one of the reasons that I would actually give Ron Paul the time of day in my brain. That’s why I like reading about people like Sen. Tom Coburn from Oklahoma. I like people who stand for the side of the rule of law and want to do things in the right order.

But I’m also a realist.
