  • Clinton urges voters to embrace Reid – News – ReviewJournal.com – "If you knew who's giving the money, you would know that the ads weren't true," Clinton said, without citing any specific political action committee. — Looks like former Pres. Clinton is calling someone liars, interesting coming from him.
  • Vox Popoli: The consequence of female choices – Women choosing to work instead of raise a family directly impacts the ability of men to find jobs that pay to support this "choice". And the antithesis is also true…
  • Sharron Angle surge unnerving Nevada Democrats – Molly Ball – POLITICO.com – Harry Ried, the Majority Leader in the Senate with the most power, could be defeated by a Tea Party opponent… pretty amazing if you ask me.
  • Sex and consequences – "Some people wonder why I sometimes post on the topic of homosexuality on my pro-life blog. It's because the abortion and homosexual movement are flip sides of the same coin. Both want illicit sex without consequences. Both want to stop social conservatives from educating about the consequences. And both want taxpayers to pay dfor[sic] the inevitable consequences when they develop." – Exactly
  • Atheists Outdo Some Believers in Survey on Religion – NYTimes.com – This article is a bit misleading. While, on the face of it, its title and opening paragraphs are meant to bolster the old claim that atheists know more about "religion" than believers, when you actually read the article in question (after you get past the atheist gloating) you read this gem: "On questions about the Bible and Christianity, the groups that answered the most right were Mormons and white evangelical Protestants." What?! Atheists don't know more about the Bible than Protestants? Kinda makes the comment from the atheist about giving his daughter a Bible to make her an atheist carry less weight, doesn't it?

  • Althouse: Christine O’Donnell: " I dabbled into witchcraft — I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. … I dabbled into witchcraft." – "Even if she had participated in some witchcraft, she'd only be like thousands of other young people who dabble in such nonsense. Do you want to string them all up? It's typical pop culture junk these days." — Would finding out that your GOP Senate candidate once "dabbled in witchcraft" make you want to consider not voting for her? For me, I wonder what her current status is– people do change.
  • Say Anything » Montana Republicans Want To Make Homosexuality Illegal – "I don’t see how a political party can claim to be pro-freedom while simultaneously saying that consenting adults can’t be free to love who they want to love. How can you be pro-freedom while simultaneously supporting government bans on marriage contracts in same-sex relationships?" The reason is that the Conservative and Republican parties are not the Libertarian party. Conservatives don't want a "freedom for everybody" as much as they want freedom within a moral boundary– the boundary created by the Founders. This would be one that looks on homosexuality like our Founding Fathers would: as a deviant behavior.
  • Congressmen Weiner and Waxman Set Gold Hearing — Seeking Alpha – "Just as the government is trying to prevent people from investing in anything other than T-Bills by raising taxes on taxable interest and dividends to confiscatory levels, it's also trying to prevent you from parking your wealth in assets, like gold, that compete with the paper dollars issued by the Federal Reserve and the Treasury." Of course the government doesn't want you investing in anything other than it's paper– otherwise, how can it go on and create more in order to finance it's free-spending ways?
  • Pelosi hedges on tax cuts – Jake Sherman – POLITICO.com – "The California Democrat, speaking in the same room House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) appeared in earlier in the day, said that the “only thing I can tell you is the tax cuts for the middle class will be extended this Congress,” leaving open the possibility that cuts for people making more than $250,000 could be extended at some point, too." — The trend is with the GOP right now, and if I were in their leadership I'd be pushing to have this done before the election to get it done. The only way I'd let it wait is if it could be made a campaign theme to the point that they could say "elect us and we'll get you the tax breaks– the other side won't."
  • After Delaware, G.O.P. Senate Takeover Appears Much Less Likely – NYTimes.com – While it's still possible that the GOP could take the Senate and the House, polling at the moment seems to suggest that it's less likely after primary day: "Republicans remain strongly positioned to make large gains in the Senate: the model, after 100,000 simulations, has them finishing with an average of 47.1 seats, only slightly down from 47.5 last week. But their winning the relatively specific set of races that they would need to win in order to control the Senate now seems less likely, and the Democrats’ position is as secure as it has been in several months." However, there are still 47 days or so in the election, and the first time that the actual candidates are put head to head. Top that off with the fact that this is going to be a tough year for Democrats and it'll be about turnout… you never know.

  • U.S. Steps Up Criticism of China’s Practices – NYTimes.com – "Dismay over China’s currency interventions — it buys about $1 billion a day to maintain the renminbi’s peg to the dollar — has been a recurring theme for years. The election-season rhetoric, the carefully calibrated strengthening of the Chinese currency on the eve of Mr. Geithner’s appearance, and the administration’s struggle to negotiate a diplomatic line set the stage for predictable political theater. " — Did you know that this is how China keeps its currency low, and thereby continues its role as producer? Wonder what will happen when the dollar isn't the reserve currency any more.
  • MamaArcher’s Blog » Blog Archive » The Last Acceptable Prejudice – Is the last acceptable Prejudice that against large families?
  • Birth control makes me mad | Life In a Shoe – "Our friends and family may not agree with us on whether to use birth control, but they need to know that certain methods do far more than simply prevent pregnancy. If our friends and family believe that life begins at conception, then they need to know that nearly all of the most popular, most effective methods have a Plan B: murder any unborn child that gets past Plan A. It's right there in the fine print that they'll find in the package."
  • SoapboxFive: Biology, not theology – In order to refute the science of the issue, many choose to create the strawman of a religious argument even if it hasn't been used. This article illustrates.

  • My Daily Trek: Muslim students prove this is a Christian nation – "I've had some secular fundamentalists tell me that this doesn't make the document or the nation Christian in any sense since the dating formula was simply customary. I respond by saying this makes the case worse for them, since my friends are admitting that it was so common for the Founders to think of Jesus as Lord that they had not a moment's hesitation in putting his name in our foundational document and expressing their personal allegiance to him." – Do the dating phrases mean we're a Christian nation?
  • Constitutionality of the Health Care Bill – "However, as scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed."
  • Because an ultrasound (not an abortion) is "cruel and unusual punishment" – ElizabethEsther.com – "Pro-choice advocates are relieved because 'forcing' a woman to see her 'fetus' before she kills it 'can only be viewed as unconstitutional in that it violates the Eighth Amendment's prohibition against 'cruel and unusual punishment.'" — Exactly. Why is it a problem to kill the baby, but to see the baby is wrong?
  • Abstinence Just Makes Sense – "What if I told you I know how to prevent cervical cancer? What about Sexually Transmitted Disease? I might even tell you that I know how to prevent, unwanted children, divorce and even heartbreak. Of course, you would want to know the secret; who wouldn’t? What if I told you that nearly everyone knows how to prevent many of societies biggest problems, but they simply don’t want to sacrifice their desire of immediate gratification to do so? This is exactly what is happening."
  • Vox Popoli: 2010 is gone – "I chortled a bit. You may recall that I have predicted three things here a while back. House lost. Senate lost. Obama doesn't even make it to the general election in 2012. Suddenly, all three are looking a little less crazy then they were back then." — What do you think of this prediction?

  • I’m Sorry, Glenn….It’s Over. at Christian Research Net – "And okay, sure, I knew you were a Mormon. But maybe, I said to myself, he’s really a Christian. Maybe he’s one of those 'cultural Mormons,' a Mormon in name only, who doesn’t even know about all that kooky Mormon theology. After all, he talks about God and Jesus and salvation and atonement…. Looking back, I’m so ashamed of myself: I should have known better! After all, a large part of what I do is write about cults, and how they use the same terminology that Christians do, only with redefined meanings. Oh, how I wanted to believe." — Should Christians be getting behind Beck? I don't think so.
  • A homosexual newspaper says conservatives have taken the leadership role in achieving marriage equality at Christian Research Net – "The revolution consisted of forcing the sexual genie into the marital bottle. It ensured that sex no longer dominated society, heightened male-female love and sexuality (and thereby almost alone created the possibility of love and eroticism within marriage), and began the arduous task of elevating the status of women." – A great historical look at what Marriage has done in the west, why homosexual marriage is going to destroy marriage, and what to think of the deviancy we see today.
  • Obama’s Insults Mask Fear of Boehner: Kevin Hassett – Bloomberg – "Democrats unleashed a barrage against House Minority Leader John Boehner in recent weeks, which raises the question — what are they afraid of?"
  • Joni Eareckson Tada Not Shaken by Breast Cancer at Christian Research Net – "After 43 years of living paralyzed from the neck down and recently learning that she now has breast cancer, Joni Eareckson Tada remains all smiles. 'I want to assure you that I am genuinely content to receive from God whatever He deems fit for me even if it is from His left hand because better something from His left hand than no hand at all, right?' the beloved disability advocate and quadriplegic said in a video message to supporters." — This is absolutely amazing. I don't know that I'd have her strength.
  • The Museum of Idolatry: Supermodel Sermon Series? – Some churches stay on topic for holidays– which seems weird. Some make every holiday a special day. This is going too far: "This is what Aviator Church will be preaching about on Mother's day?!?! We wonder if they will also be starting the Hooters Bible Study in their small groups during the month of May?"
