3 Things God Wants Out of His People

One book that I read said that the number one thing that attracts a person to a church is the bathrooms—better have them cleaned, well stocked, and visible.
The book also said that the nursery should be well staffed, and that many times a person will decide whether or not to come back long before the pastor has even started his sermon—so you’ve better work on those greeters.
Of course, this leaves out the fact that it is God that builds the church, not us choosing the church((Matthew 16:18)).

A Body in Need of Repair

The church is under attack today. Both from the outside and from the inside.
On the outside, the church is belittled, had rights taken away from it, and is being banned from the public square as the culture casts aside the Christian moral code.
On the inside, brothers are turning against brothers, cliques are formed, and what is supposed to be a loving body of believers is instead a series of power plays that mimics the Constitutional government that it currently uses.

What the Media Wants You To Think
Not that you were aware, but Barbie celebrated her 49th birthday last week (thanks, Lydia). My first encounter with Barbie was not a pleasant one since it dealt with a mischievous boy on our bus. You see, Barbie isn’t bad in and of herself. She could be just about anything, and that allowed little girls to imagine what could be. However, she was also caught up in a society that was marketing women as objects rather than people.
For a society that prides itself in the rights that it gives women, we seem to also seem to enslave them the most. We simply replace one form of enslavement for another and then expect them to be happy.
