Late last year I told you about a service that I was trying out to keep up with places that I’ve commented— since the most difficult thing about commenting is keeping up on all the conversations that you’ve entered. You see, not everyone provides the e-mail subscription option that you find on this blog, so it’s sometimes hard to remember every place I visited to go back and keep up with what as said.

February 13th marks the 4th year since I decided to start blogging about the culture and things I was reading in the news here at MInTheGap.  I want to take a moment and thank you all for coming by and reading my posts, for the conversations that we’ve had, and for the friendships that have grown.

As we enter our fifth year, I pray that the Lord will bless us in our endeavor to explore topics from a Biblical perspective.

Upgrade Your Blog

More Lessons on the Laptop 1 Recently I’ve gone through the process of upgrading and standardizing all the different blogs that I run. I’ve also helped a few others on templates, and even worked at tweaking a WordPress plugin or two.

So, this new series will take you through a few steps that I do to run my blogs– from plugins, to companion sites, to ad programs– the works– in the hopes of helping you no matter where your blog resides.

Someone Loves this Blog

Wooden Heart Revka, over at The Porch Light, has selected my blog as one that she loves.

Now it’s my turn. I have to pick 5 blogs to send love to and I choose (in no particular order):

  • Home-Steeped Hope – Mary’s passion for raising her family and desire to serve her Savior make her blog a must read.
  • Making Home – Jess cuts right to the thick of things and doesn’t hold back.
  • ~Clothesline Alley~ – Mrs. Brigham talks about what it’s like to be a housewife, and often takes to task modern feminism.
  • Vox Popoli – I may not always agree with what he has to say, but Vox Day’s opinions definitely challenge you to think.
  • Unfolding Grace – Mrs. Elliot has uncommon wisdom and a terrific insight.

Thank you so much, Revka, for this honor!

5 Reasons to Not Leave a Comment on a Blog

February 7th, 2007 Viewed 26227 times, 2 so far today

Last week, Mary looked at 5 ways to keep your blogging buddies happy. Some of the comments and discussion that surrounded this topic was fascinating. I’ll be looking forward to adding some more work around areas of this place to make it more interesting to be here.

The one thing that I think deserves highlighting is that blogs are as much a social medium as an informational one. On more than one occasion I’ve learned something new through the comments that I have read to a post that I’ve written. I’ve also benefited from the discussion surrounding more controversial topics that I’ve covered. I think that blogging and comments let you say what you’re thinking and feeling and get reaction in ways that forums and other media do not allow.
