Be Fruitful and Multiply

August 1st, 2018 Viewed 624 times

God’s plan for mankind was to “be fruitful and multiply.” He stated this to Adam and Eve and again to Noah after the flood. In fact, there was never a command in the Bible not to have children. In fact the Bible commends having children, and shows those incapable of having children as not receiving a blessing.

So why are we seeing Tweets asking this question?

I believe that it is because of the changing attitude of American Christianity to children.

Ethical Dilemmas Surround Going Around God’s Plans

PSU Lunch Carts Wed Feb 15, 2012 131 by Parker KnightIt isn’t very long into reading the historical books of the Bible that we find people trying to go around God’s plans:

  • Eve decides she knows better than God, and chooses to eat the fruit.
  • Adam decides he knows better than God, and chooses to eat the fruit his wife offers him.
  • Cain decides he knows better than God, and offers fruit instead of a lamb.
  • Man in general decides it knows better than God and lives to self, ends up underwater.
  • Man decides not to spread over the Earth—see how well that worked out for them.
  • Sarai decides she knows better than God and offers Hagar to her husband Abram because she hasn’t been able to have children yet.

That last one is interesting, as today we’re still doing much the same thing, only instead of offering handmaids or male servants to the spouse that can’t bear a child, we’re taking donations from males and females and creating children around God’s wishes (as it is He that gives the blessing of children).  Just like the items listed above, this activity also is showing negative consequences.

It was High School.  Eleventh Grade.  I was in Social Studies class and the teacher, a younger guy who was still full of energy and wanting to teach, decided that it would be interesting to get a class debate together decided on the topic of abortion.

Abortion is a weird topic for teens, because many are just becoming aware of the changes in their body, and our culture is in the process of completely rejecting the traditional Christian moral framework—and wants to let everyone believe that being sexually active is a right.

There’s something special about a pregnant woman.  It’s more than the glow, it’s the amazing feeling that there’s a new life growing inside.

When taken in this perspective, there’s a tiny miracle inside, and it’s something beautiful on the inside and the outside.

North Dakota has led the way in terms of chipping away at abortion rights.  Along with Mississippi and other Bible Belt states, North Dakota has sought time and again to test the Supreme Courts ruling that has allowed women in the United States to kill their unborn children at any stage of their pregnancies.

If It’s Really a Baby, That Should Settle It

The single most important question when it comes to life in the womb is whether it’s alive and whether it’s human.  Since it’s both, that should settle the question.  Hence the reason that Justice Harry Blackman, in the Roe v. Wade decision, decided to duck it.

The foundational question to this debate is whether or not living children are killed by abortion.  Everything else is simply diversion.
