Fundamentalist Atheists—America’s Taliban

December 18th, 2012 Viewed 3527 times

cross2There are many Atheists that are content to live peaceably with their neighbors.  They live and work within this country, and seek no ill will– they just do not believe in the supernatural or any deity.  These are probably your friends, coworkers, and others that many would consider good people.  However, there is a vocal minority of Atheists (I term them Fundamentalist Atheists) that seek to eradicate all religion, and these are the focus of this article.

It doesn’t take long reading Fundamentalist Atheist’s thoughts to find that they believe that Christians are the American version of the Taliban.  They trot out the ideas that Christians are behind unequal rights for gays and telling women what to do with their bodies, and compare that to the Taliban telling women that they are of no worth and that they must veil themselves from head to toe.

What they miss is the fact that on a larger scale, they are actually America’s Taliban.

Atheists Object to World Trade Center Cross

A piece of the World Trade Center, a steel beam that was cross shaped, has been a symbol of home, and now it’s a symbol of controversy.  Why?  Atheists.

You see, this beam was moved into the National September 11th Memorial and Museum where it’s to be in the permanent collection, and some people have a problem with that.

The Power of Children

I don’t know that there’s a day that goes by that, when someone finds out that I have four children, there is not some comment made about my family’s size and whether or not the person that I’m having the conversation with could do it either.

In fact, in Western Europe and growing in the United States, anyone that has over the standard 2 children (a boy and a girl, naturally) is looked at to be sinful.  I mean, I know, sin is an outmoded concept, but for those that dare have more than the 2 children, they’re the only sinners left.

Because He Said It, It Must Be True

Yesterday we explored the concept of the Appeal To Authority fallacy: The idea that just because something could happen doesn’t mean that it will or did.  We stated that the logical conclusions drawn about Molecules to Man Evolution rests on this fallacy, because it requires millions of years for things to happen that haven’t been observed, but works itself backwards from the present:  It states that since we are here, this is how it must have happened, it just must have taken millions of years.  Hence they work out the probability of it happening, and then state that because we are here it did.

Atheism’s Absurd Claim

Picking up on the topic yesterday, perhaps you figured out that the scenario was meant to be equivalent to the scenario that I’ve been debating over at Christian Personal Finance about whether we should keep “In God we trust” on our bills.

Now, in that discussion I’ve attempted to remain on task, but Rex and I have left a lot of loose ends uncovered.  One of those ends is “Why are atheists so adamant about this?”

Why Did God…

I keep tabs on all the major social networking sites, and one of them is very heavily biased towards liberalism and atheism.  It pays to keep tabs on them, because you know how they speak and what arguments (weak and strong) they are using.

In particular, I found a thread the other day that made the following statement:

I asked, ‘Why did ‘god’ give reptiles the ability to regenerate and not humans?’ I got this *gem* for my replay…

Reply from co-worker: “God is standing there waiting to help humans, but we keep rejecting them. Reptiles don’t. That is my explanation there.”

Funny How They Get It

So far, there has been nothing that this Atheist has been able to present in his set of convincing proofs that have proven anything.  His attempts to distort Scripture, to take it out of context and force his worldview on it have not changed the plain reading of the passage.

Christian Marriages

The last of this Atheist’s most convincing arguments is probably his weakest.  He claims that because:

  1. Each “Christian Couple” that gets married has witnesses and people praying for the success of their marriage.
  2. The minister says “What God has put together let no man put asunder”
  3. Christian couples still get divorced.

That this means that Christianity is a fallacy.

Is History Silent?

The next argument is an appeal to secular history.  For the Atheist, the supposed lack of external sources to this event should present a problem to the believer.  If something that was that important appeared in a person’s lifetime, it had to have been noticed.

I mean, wouldn’t the resurrection of a person from the dead hit CSPAN?  Fox News would probably be covering it wall to wall, while CNN would relegate it to the religion section.
