Atheists Object to World Trade Center Cross

A piece of the World Trade Center, a steel beam that was cross shaped, has been a symbol of home, and now it’s a symbol of controversy.  Why?  Atheists. You see, this beam was moved into the National September 11th Memorial and Museum where it’s to be in the permanent collection, and some people have [...]

The Power of Children

I don’t know that there’s a day that goes by that, when someone finds out that I have four children, there is not some comment made about my family’s size and whether or not the person that I’m having the conversation with could do it either. In fact, in Western Europe and growing in the [...]

Because He Said It, It Must Be True

Yesterday we explored the concept of the Appeal To Authority fallacy: The idea that just because something could happen doesn’t mean that it will or did.  We stated that the logical conclusions drawn about Molecules to Man Evolution rests on this fallacy, because it requires millions of years for things to happen that haven’t been [...]

Atheism’s Absurd Claim

Picking up on the topic yesterday, perhaps you figured out that the scenario was meant to be equivalent to the scenario that I’ve been debating over at Christian Personal Finance about whether we should keep “In God we trust” on our bills. Now, in that discussion I’ve attempted to remain on task, but Rex and [...]

Why Did God…

I keep tabs on all the major social networking sites, and one of them is very heavily biased towards liberalism and atheism.  It pays to keep tabs on them, because you know how they speak and what arguments (weak and strong) they are using. In particular, I found a thread the other day that made [...]

Funny How They Get It

A group of six dozen paleontologists recently paid a trip to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky to see what they presented.

Conclusion

So far, there has been nothing that this Atheist has been able to present in his set of convincing proofs that have proven anything.  His attempts to distort Scripture, to take it out of context and force his worldview on it have not changed the plain reading of the passage.

Christian Marriages

The last of this Atheist’s most convincing arguments is probably his weakest.  He claims that because: Each “Christian Couple” that gets married has witnesses and people praying for the success of their marriage. The minister says “What God has put together let no man put asunder” Christian couples still get divorced. That this means that [...]

Is History Silent?

The next argument is an appeal to secular history.  For the Atheist, the supposed lack of external sources to this event should present a problem to the believer.  If something that was that important appeared in a person’s lifetime, it had to have been noticed. I mean, wouldn’t the resurrection of a person from the [...]

“Jesus” is Not Unique

Every student of the Bible knows that in Genesis 3:15 God promised a Savior to Adam and Eve.  From that time until Jesus appeared on the Earth, Satan has known the plan as revealed in the Bible and has sought to create alternate Anti-Christs.  He will succeed in creating his best yet during the coming [...]

The Writing of the Gospels

The Atheist’s attention now turns to the Gospels, but his argument is so weak here that it hardly deserves that much attention. When Were the Gospel’s Written? So, if Mark was written around 50 AD (or even if it were as late as 65 AD), where’s the problem here?  Obviously, dating manuscripts is not an [...]

The Doctrinal Hypothesis

JEDP, I knew you well. There is scholarship in different circles that tries to discredit the Torah (or first 5 books of the Bible—specifically Genesis) by stating that it was complied by 4 authors—none of which was Moses. Tackling this head on—there is no problem with a different writer for Genesis.  Clearly, it’s not a [...]

How The Bible Was Delivered

The Atheist’s next argument is again placing himself in the position of God.  His argument is summarized thusly:  If I were God, I’d make sure that everyone heard from me personally—I wouldn’t use dead languages over time.  That’s just a bad job at revelation.

Biblical “Contradictions”

No discussion with an Atheist is complete without some mention of the “hundreds” of contradictions in the Bible.  However, for every contradiction they can come up with, there’s always a reasonable response to them if you take the time to examine the context of the passage and consider the time period and culture.

The Bible and Reality

The second attack is that the Bible and Reality seem to contradict each other according to the Atheist. Let’s look at his points, shall we?
