101 Ways to Show Love and Respect

March 12th, 2018 Viewed 203 times, 1 so far today

Whether you’re a husband, wife, or have someone you love, I’ve taken the time to show you that you can show those around you that you love and care for them.

To husbands, there’s 101 Ways to Show Love To Your Wife.

To wives, there’s 101 Ways to Show Respect To Your Husband.

To those in love, 101 Ways To Say “I Love You” Without Saying It.

These are hardly exhaustive lists, and taken by themselves could be seen as controversial when they’re not intended to be. Anyone in a relationship for a period of time can find themselves wanting ideas to keep their love alive or fresh, and sometimes we all need some encouragement.

A New Beginning – The Story of Abraham and Sarah

March 11th, 2018 Viewed 264 times, 2 so far today

Abraham has his wife lie, and yet they are blessed.

Genesis 12:15 – And when the princes of Pharaoh saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house. 16 And for her sake he dealt well with Abram; and he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels. 17 But the Lord afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. 18 So Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? 19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife; take her, and go.” 20 And Pharaoh gave men orders concerning him, and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.

Here we have a problem for Abraham: He is a man with an attractive wife and he believes that the men of the land, being less civilized than himself or where he has come from, will kill him in order to get her. She must have been quite attractive! In order to avoid death, Abraham convinces his half-sister to say that she is only his sister, and in that way he will be spared. What should Sarai do?

101 Ways to Show Respect To Your Husband

With His Job

It’s important to realize here that what a man does is a part of who he is.  This is part of the reason that the first thing one man will probably ask the other is “what do you do?”  I think that a lot of wives lose out on connections that they can make with their husbands because they want to separate him from his work– and yet that work is what he does for most of his day.

  1. Let him know how much you appreciate the work that he does.
  2. Get to know the names of people that he works with and their positions.
  3. Find out if it would be appropriate to invite a coworker over.
  4. If his company has a get together, don’t try to get out of it.
  5. Learn something about his profession– so that you’re at least conversant.
  6. Just like you’d like him to ask you about your day, ask him about his.
  7. Find out what he wants to do with his life.
  8. Encourage him to press on from where he is in job growth.
  9. Go on a work related trip with him.
  10. Prepare a snack just for him and his coworkers (the people in his office will look up to him!)
  11. Budget/Plan for lunches with coworkers– understand the need to network.
  12. Send him thoughtful or playful texts while he’s at work.
  13. Include a note of praise in his lunch (if he brings one).
  14. See him off in the morning.
  15. Welcome him home from the day.

Unless the Lord Builds the House

Psalm 127 A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.
1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

Activists, Guns, Trump-Russia and Gates

Quite the mixed bag today. First, I found this at the library last night while looking through children’s books:

I was looking for books for my kids, and I found this book, and as I started to flip through it I found that I was pretty shocked that there would be a book with socialist overtones geared toward kids in my library. Now, I also thought through the fact that some people have this same reaction when a Christian book geared toward children is also in the library (I had skimmed Bearenstein Bears’ and the Big Question earlier in the same trip). That didn’t make it any less shocking and I’m beginning to see that other competing ideas are now becoming more blatant in their placement– it’s becoming more real.

Mass Shootings, Russian Bots and Secret Hand Signals

Lots of people talking about President Trump meeting with kids from the Florida school and CNN’s town hall. Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) took the time in her latest column telling us all about an amazing new breakthrough to reduce mass shootings… wait for it… Get rid of illegal immigrants.

There have been about 34 mass shootings since 2000. Forty-seven percent – 16 – were committed by first- and second-generation immigrants, i.e. people who never would have been here but for Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 immigration act.

She goes on to list the names of those that would not have been able to been able to have done a mass shooting because they wouldn’t be here in the first place. Which on its face is correct.

Obstruction of Justice, Trump-FBI and #TwitterLockOut

So, how this will work is I’ll attempt to lead you to the different view points, and the messaging between the two camps. I’ll also attempt to introduce you to who’s on what side and where they stand. Follow the links to get the full details.

There are two individuals that seem to be writing in an impartial manner that you can trust to be less partisan in what they lay out. One of these is Andrew McCarthy McCarthy is one of the go-to guys for people that back Trump because, for the moment, McCarthy states that he believes that there’s no way that Trump is impeached. His qualifications to make such a judgement? He’s a “Bestselling author. Contributing Editor at National Review & Fellow at NR Inst. Former Chief Asst. U.S. Attorney” His posts are very well laid out and can be accessible by most laymen. This doesn’t mean that everyone agrees with him. In his latest post, he is responding to a critic and lays out a very important point:

A Battle of Epic Porportions

February 21st, 2018 Viewed 287 times, 3 so far today

We are in an epic battle, if you have been paying attention to the political chatter, but we aren’t quite sure who is really on the side of truth. On both extremes are people that believe that they are right, moral and just and that the other side is delusional. Both sides are relying on secret proceedings and are determined to read into every bit of information that they can to discern how close their guy is to beating the other guy.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, let’s introduce the cast of characters in this dramatic play.

When It’s Not About the Box

February 15th, 2018 Viewed 274 times, 2 so far today

Pres. Trump’s recent budget proposal came out, and this time around it included a proposal to replace some of the SNAP money that people are getting with a box of food that’s chosen based on governmental factors:

Under a proposal in the president’s budget many participants in the program would be given half their benefits in the form of a “Harvest Box” full of food preselected for nutritional value and economic benefit to American farmers. The cache of cheaper peanut butter, canned goods, pasta, cereal, “shelf stable” milk and other products would now be selected by the federal government, not by the people actually eating it.

Glenn Thrush, NYT

While Ann Althouse wonders whether Trump is simply attempting to troll people or whether it’s a creative way to think outside the box by thinking about a box, I think it’s another persuasion play.

I Will Walk With Integrity – Psalm 101

February 14th, 2018 Viewed 253 times, 1 so far today

101 A Psalm of David.

1  I will sing of steadfast love and justice;
to you, O Lord, I will make music.

2  I will ponder the way that is blameless.
Oh when will you come to me?
I will walk with integrity of heart
within my house;

3  I will not set before my eyes
anything that is worthless.
I hate the work of those who fall away;
it shall not cling to me.

4  A perverse heart shall be far from me;
I will know nothing of evil.

5  Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly
I will destroy.
Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart
I will not endure.

6  I will look with favor on the faithful in the land,
that they may dwell with me;
he who walks in the way that is blameless
shall minister to me.

7  No one who practices deceit
shall dwell in my house;
no one who utters lies
shall continue before my eyes.

8  Morning by morning I will destroy
all the wicked in the land,
cutting off all the evildoers
from the city of the Lord.
