Tire swing kids

This week is Vacation Bible School at my church—first time in a few years.  So, I’m knee deep in Dinosaurs, song leading, and having kids battling a virus.

So, I’m around, commenting, visiting, and using Stumble Upon for some commentary (and even a little Twitter) but haven’t gotten a chance, really, for any good posts.  Though I have some really great topics—so you’ll just have to stay tuned.

There wasn’t that many submissions this time, so I had to add a couple!

Hopefully the new contest will be one that more people can get involved in.  I wonder if I have to start offering prizes?  What do you think?

In any case, you know the drill:

  1. Fill out the form below.
  2. Voting is over at the end of the week, and we’ll announce the winners!

So, here are the results for the first caption contest:

  1. Ladies and Gentlemen, a regular diet of fruits and vegetables, including bananas, will help you with maintaining your regularity. (2 votes)
  2. Mr. President, it’s time to stop fooling around. Sen. McCain is waiting on the phone. (2 votes)
  3. Shhhhh, I think I found the perfect hiding place… finally!! (1 vote)
  4. Bobby Banana wanted to be like all the other kids – a regular boy. (1 vote)

That means there were 6 votes– surely we can do better than that!

Flags Header

Today we remember all those that have given their lives so that we might be free.  America owes its freedom not to Congress, the President or the ACLU, but to those that have been willing to risk all to protect it.

To the men and women who have risks their lives both home and abroad so that we might have the freedoms that we are so richly blessed with, this nation– and this blogger– offers our sincerest thanks, and we are indebted to you.

WordPress Logo Every single time I set up a WordPress blog (and I’ve set up quite a few now) there are a few plugins that I find myself wanting or needing every single time.  It’s to the point that if I’m helping someone out on their blog and I go look at their plugins, I immediately wonder why they are not there!

These plugins vary from those that work behind the scenes to those that do their work out in the open:

Weekend Kindness – Carpet

May 16th, 2008 Viewed 2101 times

This was supposed to be Mother’s Day week on Weekend Kindness, but it appears all the moms were too busy being a mom to write about their mom!

The only post that’s gone live so far this week is one called “Of Kids and Carpet” which talks about some lessons learned when my wife and I ripped up the carpet in our dining room.

Help One of the things that makes commenting difficult on blogs (for me at least) is trying to keep a line of discussion going.  Since there is no hierarchy to comments, you’re not always able to keep track of what’s being said to whom.  This is one of the things that forums do a much better job of managing.
