No Longer a CBD Affiliate

Gospel Reading Up until today I’ve had an affiliate relationship with CBD.  If you purchased something from CBD through this site, I received a portion of that sale for getting them the business.

Effective today, because of the decision of my State’s elected leaders to try to get every penny from online sales, that relationship has been terminated.

Summer Series Spectacular

Lined Notebook Header

So I’m trying something a little new and different, and that’s why it’s been a little quiet here.  Basically, I’ve decided that I would like to try to use the slow summer months to write some longer posts and series rather than just going crazy trying to keep up with news.

To that end, I have a few series I’ve started to write, and I’ll post them when completed, and let them overlap to some degree.  That way I should be able to maintain a consistent set of content that you can expect, and I’ll vary the topic.

Caption Contest 9 - Linus’ Friend

Hail the Great Pumpkin I know, it’s not October yet, but this picture is fun just the same, and it leaves us with some burning questions:

  • What is this kid saying/doing?
  • Is he a true believer in the Great Pumpkin?
  • Is he wearing blue because that’s the color of Linus’ blanket?
  • Where are the vines for the pumpkins?
  • Am I stealing all the good captions?

There’s only one more caption contest after this week.  If you haven’t gotten in, and you have a good idea, or you just want to humor me at my attempt to be funny in the midst of a summer that no one seems to be around and wanting to comment on this site—feel free to offer a comment in the box below.

Come on, you know this is a cute picture.  You know you want to comment.

Put on your thinking caps and come up with some good captions!

Have You Seen the Wall?

brick wall 2

Over on the right-most sidebar is a new widget—the Wall.  Back when I was at Bravenet it was called a tag board, and it could be compared to a shout box, but this is a wall (I think it gets its name from Facebook).

So, if you have a quick message to send, try it out.  It works with AJAX, so you should not have to see a post back, and you can make any comment you’d like.

It’s just one more way for us to keep in touch!

Then again, I do have the tendency to feel that I’m talking to that wall over there, since this is summer and everyone seems to be enjoying the outdoors.

I think that’s what it is…

Maybe it’s my breath? …

Hello?

Caption Contest 8 - They’re Driving Me Nuts!

NutsI’m sure we’ve all had these days.  And I’m sure that we can all empathize with the woman.  So, why is this particular woman trying to pull her hair out?

Better yet, why is she dressed to match the room, and why is it hard to tell whether she’s smiling or screaming?

I know that the moms out there that read this may be able to peer inside her mind.  And I’m just waiting to see what you come up with.

In any case, let us in on why you think that this woman is carrying on, and perhaps what we can do to help.

Do so in the comments section below…

Please?

Pretty Please?  Or perhaps I will have to pull my hair out?

Wrapping Up VBS

Tire swing kids

What a week this has been.  Tonight is the final night of our Vacation Bible School.

There are weeks where everything goes right, and then there are weeks that everything goes wrong.  This is more of the latter.  If I began to try to sit down and detail everything that’s not gone as expected, I could write a week’s worth of blog posts on that topic alone.

Suffice it to say that I will be glad to see Sunday.

Five Reasons Bloggers Need to Get Their Own Domain

Work 1

There are many free services out on the Internet that will help you get your feet wet with the daily ins and outs of blogging.  And it’s great fun to write your post and get your first comment.

Some sites even build little communities around your blog, so that you feel that you are part of a bigger group of people.  All of this is well and good, if you really want to spend all of your time writing something for someone else to use and have rights to.
