Do you acknowledge God in all your ways? I know that we often ask-beg-plead with God to direct our paths (especially when it comes to a big decision), but do we do what’s necessary to fulfill the promise of His direction?
That’s the question that comes to mind as I read Rebecca’s post talking about acknowledging God with what we wear. It’s a good question that we should be asking ourselves every day as we seek to serve Him.
Speaking of clothing, Shauna over at Modestly Yours talks about the interesting response she got from a cousin who visited her recently. In a touching moment of modesty, Shauna’s cousin commented that wearing skirts and a high collared shirt was more liberating:
She suddenly said, “I love skirts! I feel so much more free in them than pants! I feel so much less self conscious! It’s so much easier to concentrate when you aren’t worrying about how everyone is judging your body in your clothing.”
Which leads us to Natalie who uses a very common song to ask an uncommon question. Upon whom is your hope built?
And following that question, Mary talks about how God sees us:
Our sin has been dealt with. God, our Father, has removed it from us who believe, through His Son’s work on the cross. Psalm 103:12 says that He’s removed it from us, “as far as the east is from the west”. 1 Corinthians 6:11 says, “Your sins have been washed away.”
But she doesn’t leave it there– she talks about how important it is to confess our sins to God to get right. Jesus covered our sins, and He loves us, but He still wants a relationship with us.
Turning to things of love, Claudia lists 5 Things that your Husband wants You to Know (but might not know how to tell you) and Scott gives guys great tips for guys about what to do for their wives for Valentines Day. He says that what our wives really want is a handmade card with lots of words. The comments are a great read, and I even chime in with a joke!
Over at Weekend Kindness this week, we’re giving different date ideas:
Hope you all have a good weekend!

I always like to highlight when a celebrity does something right, or something praiseworthy. Especially in the area of marriage and family. Jennifer Lopez is expecting twins with her husband Marc Antony– so congratulations!
The effect of the Internet has yet to be realized. One of the things that I’ve found is that for every bit of progress we make we create more reasons to isolate ourselves. Whether it’s online shopping, video games, television, etc., we are slowly losing contact with those around us. And they say that homeschooling hinders socialization! What about people that spend all their time IM’ing and no time talking. That, to me, is the danger of things like Facebook– and how it can ruin your life. Because, on the Internet, pretty much nothing’s a secret, and it’s not enough to know how to communicate with people in person, you now have to survive the social networking gauntlet.
What do you do to save money? Have you ever gone to a drug store to get free shampoo? That’s just one of the 25 money saving tips to be found at Early Retirement Extreme. I only have two colors of socks, but I can definitely see how some of these would work, and some would definitely be extreme.
Here’s a quick poll:

They took this same type of poll in England, and we’re pretty surprised by the results.

First off, let me encourage you, if you’ve never been over to my VeggieTales blog and read the writings of my alter-ego, Peter Plum, check on this post on What I Learned From Jonah. I think that there’s a lot of truth to the idea that if we’d show more compassion and mercy we would make a lot more of an impact for the cause of Christ. Drop me a comment!
Next, who do you think is the spoiler in the Republic party’s primary? The general wisdom is that it’s Mike Huckabee, since he is in third place. Could it actually be Romney? How would any of these guys do head to head? Weigh in On The wRite Side where Holly asks A Vote for Huckabee is a Vote for Who?
What would you do if you found a bank branch was unlocked. I bank with HSBC, so this story is even more interesting to me, though I’m not in England. A family shows up to get some cash out of an ATM and a 5 year old finds that the branch has not been locked for the weekend! What’s strange is that no alarms sounded, even though he walked up and looked at the vault and the computers on the desks. Strange.
Internet suicides are a scary thing. That there are forums that are allowed to operate that encourage people to take their own lives is tragic. Words cannot express my contempt for people that believe that it’s somehow good to encourage people to be so selfish as to take their own life. And for a town in England, there have been 14 of these people that have hanged themselves. My heart goes out to the families that have lost the ones they love to this tragedy.

Been a while since I was able to do one of these posts, so let’s cover some links to things that I’ve found interesting!
Homosexuals Squelch Facts About MRSA Outbreak, Conservatives Say
And you thought AIDS was bad, now there’s a new Multi-drug Resistant Microbe, but the problem is that political correctness is keeping how it’s spread a secret:
In fact, the researchers determined that this variant of MRSA infection is 13 to 14 times more prevalent in homosexual men than for the general population.
This is just one more reason that we should not be encouraging this lifestyle– it’s sin, it’s a risky behavior, and it should stop.
New Miss America once battled anorexia
There’s always some story around Miss America– and this year it’s that Miss America has battled anorexia in the past.
Haglund was diagnosed with anorexia, and the lack of nutrition caused her collar bones to stick out, her heart rate to drop and her relationships to suffer.
“I would feel fatigued walking up six stairs,” the 19-year-old Haglund said Sunday, a day after being crowned Miss America 2008. “I was a completely different person. It’s not a pretty sight.”
Haglund plans to spend her yearlong reign, trying to raise awareness of eating disorders, promoting the pagaent and helping the Children’s Miracle Network while maintaining a healthy lifestyle and exercise.
…
“You have to have curves,” she said proudly. “You can’t look like a stick-thin model.”
We must pray that these girls see what they are doing to their bodies and realize it before it’s too late.
Cell Porn Scandal Hits Pa. High School
The problem with cell phones that have cameras is that they are everywhere, and it’s only a matter of time before the images that are taken are passed everywhere. And once it’s sent, there’s not way to get it back.
Troopers are now attempting the impossible– to find the copies of these girls in compromising situations and get them erased. Frankly, I’m surprised that they are not already all over the Internet.
It’s a sad commentary on our society when our kids think it’s appropriate to take something that’s private and blast it for all the world to see. And yet this is the very thing that our porn generation has said is a good thing.
Blogging “Against Choice:” All About Me
This is quite a powerful article (you should read the whole thing) about what’s behind the pro-choice movement:
Everything in the abortion debate, at least on the other side, is centered around what I think, what I feel, what I want, who I am and why I should force everyone else to be comfortable with my decisions and my actions. Their central point seems to be that because I am who I am, the rest of the world is thereby required to assent to my decisions about my life and my decisions concerning any other life that might temporarily be within my control, not by virtue of recognition of any moral conviction or standard, but by group recognition of the illiberal virtue of “privacy,” that ungodly word that pervades every aspect of today’s battle.
…
The focus of the pro-life movement — at least the new pro-life movement — is one that doesn’t focus on me. The pro-life movement should and presumably has always been about protecting and assisting others. It is the ultimate gift of self-sacrifice that calls people to care so deeply about children not yet formed who they may never know.

I’m Still Here
It’s been quite the weekend– just when you think everyone’s going back to getting healthy, someone else gets sick. So, between long nights and not feeling well myself, I haven’t gotten a chance to blog!
Stay tuned, I’ll try to get something up of substance pretty soon!

Check out the AdSense ads on VeggieTales Review! The Pirate movie comes in this Friday, and I’m getting ads on VTR (as well as on fiction.minthegap.com ?) for the movie– it’s a cute flash ad– the still I show over on the right.
What do you all think of the new series ideas I’ve been coming up with? I’m excited to get to new posts, and have been saving drafts for a lot of different ideas, just need to sit down and flush them out.
Also, I’m hoping to do some sub-series in the coming weeks. For example, the series that starts tomorrow is going to be about letting you know what kinds of things I do when setting up a blog, and how you can do some of those very same thing– but it will take multiple posts just to explain some of them.
Lastly, if some of you have been having trouble with seeing posts on Weekend Kindness, I just wanted to let you know that we’re currently experiencing technical difficulties and I’m working to resolve them. Prior to this morning I made a change over on the site to support image uploading with Windows Live Writer and I broke the permalinks. So you could see the front page, but if you tried to go to the individual page to comment things would have been broken. I’ll let you know when it’s back up, or you can try going to the site.
Lastly, I’ve made the subscriber only posts available on the site through the archive. That means that if you’ve placed the RSS feed for this blog on your site, your readers should now be able to click through and see this post, but it will not be available on the homepage.
Meebo is Back
For those of you that wish to contact me live rather than simply by e-mail the Meebo widget is back– it’s just not on every page. If you go to the contact page on this site (or on Weekend Kindness and MInTheGap Fiction) you’ll see that there’s both an e-mail box and now a Meebo form.
I look forward to talking with you!

Hey guys, just wanted to drop you a couple of notes to let you know what’s going on.
- In order to get a better jump on things I probably won’t have a new post on the site until Sunday when the new lineup begins.
- Check out Home is Where Your Story Begins and whether you tell her that MInTheGap sent you or not, let this new blogger know that you stopped by and encourage her on her quest and blog.
That’s it for now. Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you, and I hope that you’re having a blessed new year.
