Cool Savings

CoolSavings_120x240_3_10.4.05So, part of the new way I’m going to do affiliate sales is to actually buy things from my advertisers, or do sign ups with them, and let you know how it went, what the product was like, and maybe we can learn about these things together.

The first product I tried– because it’s a free signup– was Cool Savings1.  The first page had me sign up with an e-mail some personal details (like address, etc.) and my birthday!?  I hope they’re planning on sending me a big gift!

Next they show me a list of offers– on anything you could possibly imagine.  Giveaways, freebies, and chances to win– if you’ll sign up for all these different things.  The first time through, I checked a bunch of things that I was remotely interested in.  Wrong move.

Well, at least it was a wrong move for someone who was trying to do something for free. :)

You see, they will take you through each offer and ask you if you want to sign up.  There were some really big deals, but not having talked with my wife about these things I wasn’t about to commit to anything.  Of course, they did have this really good deal on Parents magazine…  I was close there.

After I made it all the way through, I canceled them all because I’m not going to commit to anything right now– however, they brought me right back to another page with the same choices.  This seems pretty silly– correct that, more options– whew!

Next, they wanted some details about my family– probably trying to tailor the coupons.  I found the same type of form when I signed up for my CVS card– they want to know what ads will appeal to me, so I didn’t mind that as much.

After that, now some coupons…

There were 9 Pages!– anything interesting?

SAVE $1 on one package of Rayovac® Alkaline batteries AA/AAA-8+, C/D-4+, 9V-2+

SAVE 50¢ on one (1) package of Dixie® Bath Cups

Other than that?  Nothing much that I would buy.  And of course, now that they have my e-mail address I’m getting e-mail offers.  I think I’ll let them go for a little while to see if anything truly useful comes up.  There are certainly a wide variety of things that they offer.

Basically, I would take a look at the site and look through their coupons for your area.  If you find anything interesting, come back and sign up through this site!
