The Coordinated Attack On the Family

But you probably shouldn’t be dating this friend if she does not share your basic desire to be married to someone in the next five years or so and if it seems her beliefs are vastly different from yours. I’m not saying you shouldn’t spend any time talking with her, but not in a dating relationship. I realize you like her very much and she seems everything right now, but you’re looking for a woman to marry, and you’re not sure she’ll be ready for that any time soon. You also need to be wary and establish some distance because of what she’ll learn at school. Truthfully, I’m not sure you can counter the pervasive cultural messages against early marriage, domesticity and self-sacrifice. You’re one person against an entire institutional edifice.

[The Thinking Housewife – Hoping for Early Marriage]

So goes Laura’s response to Aidan, who is having trouble reconciling his feelings about a particular girl and the girl’s ambitions and upbringing.

How Much Could You Give To Charity?

August Vegetables 2The American economy today is largely based on slavery.  No, I don’t mean the kind you read about in the Civil War, I mean the kind where you trade your future income for the chance to “have it now” commonly known as credit.

Rarely does the modern American have money to be generous with, because he’s living paycheck to paycheck to pay for the ever increasing luxuries that he is told he has to have by the expensive entertainment system he has in his home.

Is That Stuff Really Yours?

Courtroom 1What if I told you that the stuff in your house that you think you’re going to be able to sell to buy next big thing would be worth nothing to you?  That television, computer or cell phone that you bought—worthless.

The U.S. Supreme Court has on its list of cases, one that should be a cause of concern for anyone that enjoys reselling their stuff.

In 1997, a college student to Cornell University figured out a way to make a lot of money by getting his relatives in Thailand to buy his textbooks at their prices, ship them to him, and then resell for cheaper than the bookstore could sell them.  Of course this made the bookstore upset, so it sued.

The Rise of Secular Humanism

Dark Waves

Few things happen in an instance, and like the frog that is cooked by slowly bringing the water to a boil, what we see around us today is not the result of something imposed by our current leaders or from without, but from a careful, slow movement from within.

No, I’m not speaking of conspiracy theories, or trying to frighten, but to bring to the forefront what many of you have already felt—the steady march of this country from Biblical Christianity towards Secular Humanism.

If Obama Didn’t Fulfill Promises, Does that mean He Should Lose?

October 4th, 2012 Viewed 1148 times

In 2007, then candidate Obama won the election because he promised many things.  He talked about cutting the deficit, and how he would deal with a looming economic crisis.

When he became President, Obama told the country that we had to enact his stimulus programs, or else we would fall into a Great Depression. He also promised that with his programs we would not see below 8% unemployment.  Real unemployment, when you take into account the people that have stopped looking, is in the teens.

Is this enough to warrant someone else being President?

Romney is Going To Cancel Big Bird?!

October 4th, 2012 Viewed 1232 times

fire_big_birdTo hear the liberals tell it, Romney doesn’t think much of Big Bird—in fact, one could believe that he actually wants Sesame Street and all the other PBS shows off the air!  For the record, my children love Wild Kratts and Word Girl and it would seem that they are in danger too.

Except it’s not all as it appears.

Certainly, Romney did say this during the debate:

I’m sorry, Jim, I’m going to stop the subsidy to PBS. I’m going to stop other things. I like PBS, I love Big Bird. Actually like you, too. But I’m not going to—I’m not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for. That’s number one.

Once again making the point that some women think it’s economically responsible to kill our children, the government reported today that U.S. births fell for the fourth year in a row.  What’s being blamed for this declined?  The economy.

I’m terrible at washing dishes.  Ok, maybe not terrible, but no matter how good I think I do, my wife finds something that I didn’t get quite right.

Makes you glad I no longer work in food service!

Modern husbands are supposed to help with the housework, aren’t they?  Everything is supposed to be 50/50 and that makes the house run smoother and helps the husband and wife have more time and energy for each other—or so the thought goes.

What if this is wrong?

Maybe They Should Have Stood By Akin

October 2nd, 2012 Viewed 1179 times

It was just a few months ago that Mr. Akin became a national name by stating that women that are “legitimately” raped will not have child—something that he has since apologized for.  That hasn’t stopped it from being the source of a lot of jokes and derision or even being used in campaign ads against Republicans.

I mean, even multiple states away, in New York, former Congressman Dan Muffei is using Akin and trying to attach him and what he said to try to better his chances against incumbent Congresswoman Ann Marie Merkle—I just saw the ad this past Sunday!

Adoption has been around a long time, but with the modern era, test tube babies, IVF and now same sex couples, the lines of what constitutes a parent are getting twisted even further.
