Can This Be MacGuyver?

September 23rd, 2012 Viewed 1256 times

MacGyverHow many of you grew up watching MacGuyver?  I have certainly seen a lot of episodes, and they were certainly amazing!

In the first one, he cures an acid leak with chocolate bars and does crazy things with gum.

So it was a bit disheartening to see this set of pics…  I mean, who wants to think of MacGuyver as unable to fix a car?  Certainly he could whip out his Swiss Army Knife and some duct tape.

But then, looking at these pictures, the first one doesn’t look right in the face.  The others, why would Richard Dean Anderson allow himself to be photographed like this?  Why would paparazzi still be following him around.

Something just doesn’t seem right to me—how about you?

The Government Can Track Your Cell Phone

on the phone 1

Did you know that the government can track your cell phone without a warrant?

[T]he court equated high-tech electronic monitoring with a bloodhound following a scent or identifying a car by its color. The judges said that GPS tracking of citizens is the same as someone following you on the street.

The Sixth Circuit judges must have gone to law school in a totalitarian country, because they clearly have no concept of most Americans’ expectation of privacy.

I would think that most Americans would think that this goes too far, but right now you have no option other than to leave your phone at home or turn off that GPS feature.

Scott Brown Plays White Man to Elizabeth Warren’s Cherokee

In what continues to be an interesting race, Sen. Scott Brown went after Elizabeth Warren’s claim to be a Native American in their first debate:

“Professor Warren claimed that she was a Native American, a person of color, and as you can see, she’s not,” said Brown, who repeatedly called on Warren to release her personnel records to put to rest whether the claim helped her gain employment at Harvard University or the University of Pennsylvania. “When you are a U.S. senator, you have to pass a test and that’s one of character and honesty and truthfulness. I believe and others believe she’s failed that test.”

She denied doing it, but refused to release her records when challenged by Brown.

Was Denouncing the Video the Right Call?

September 22nd, 2012 Viewed 1302 times

Over this past week, with all the Middle East unrest, President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton decided to produce a video to play in the Middle East basically saying, “though it was an American that made the video, it was not produced by the American government.”

Doesn’t this sound a little strange to you?  It’s finger pointing.  It almost seems anti-free speech.  It could be taken as “don’t kill us, kill him for making the video.”

Does that seem beneath the office of the President?

The other thing that bothers me here is that you know that the real problem is not this video.  I mean, these people just wait for anything they can find to justify the chaos they want to create.  There’s a deeper problem, highlighted by one poster I saw which stated that Islam was the best or only religion.

I think those in charge should spend more time trying to figure out what’s really going on in the Middle East and less time apologizing for some YouTube video.

Fish Paint

fish paintHere’s a cute one—I’d do it, but I don’t think I could pull it off!

It looks like the couple painted their face and hair line, even their neck!, for this.  What makes it work is the fact that the fish are so vivid—it almost takes a minute to figure out what’s going on.

Which of these is your favorite?  The first one where they are kissing, the second where they’re ready to eat, or the third when the fish is about to eat the other.

I think mine is the last one.

I think that one of the neatest features of these images is the fact that they are looking into each other’s eyes while making the faces.

What do you think?

Why Some Women Think It’s Economically Responsible to Kill Our Kids

Ever the liberal website, Jezebel makes the argument that birth control and abortion are economic issues.  Their reasoning goes something like this:

Here’s a really important, apparently little-known fact that might blow some minds, if only it would sink in: pregnancy and childbirth cost money. A lot of it. And many, many organizations have been trying to point this out for a very long time. People’s grandmothers have already gotten headaches from banging their heads against this wall. So why the notion that women’s health is separate from “the economy” still a notion that’s given any credence whatsoever?

The author then launches into this cost estimate for raising a child, and since there are costs both for the parents and for the country, the reasoning goes, it’s an economic issue that can be solved by either preventing pregnancy from happening or removing the pregnancy if it happens.

What’s telling is the following paragraph:

Why I Would Never Be On Wife Swap

Cherry Blossom Couple HeaderI’m sure that if you haven’t ever watched a show then you’ve at least heard of the concept.  Two couples—usually from wildly different backgrounds—offer to have their wives trade places for the week.  Usually it entails the wife living under the host family’s rules for a day or so, followed by the guest implementing new rules for a day or so, then a big meet up where everyone talks about what they have learned about.
