Sen. Schumer and I Agree

They say that one of the most dangerous places to be in Washington, DC, is between Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and a microphone.  And what he’s said recently has found me actually agreeing this him—to a point:

Menendez, Lautenberg and Kirsten Gillibrand support eliminating some or all of the Bush tax cuts. Schumer said the $250,000 limit is unacceptable since it will hit the metropolitan area disproportionately because of the high cost of living here.

“$250,000 makes you really rich in Mississippi but it doesn’t make you rich at all in New York and there ought to be some kind of scale based on the cost of living on how much you pay,” Schumer said.  [Democrat Want to Pick and Choose Which Millionaires Get a Tax Hike]

Did you know that it is the National Single and Unmarried American’s Week?  Neither did I until I learned it from the New York Times!  They believe that it’s a shame that we push people into marriage.  Personal experience tells me that people in general don’t seem to have that problem.

The value of marriage is significantly less than it has ever been, and I believe this is for a variety of reasons:

Will Reid Shut Down the Government?

September 20th, 2011 Viewed 1119 times

Right now the two houses of government are in a big game of chicken.  A budget is due at the end of the month, and since neither the Senate nor the President have put forth a budget bill, they are faced with considering a continuing resolution.

So, the Republican lead House put forth one; however, it contains less money for FEMA aid than the continuing resolution put forth by the Senate.  Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants to authorize the spending now, and pay for it later—we all know how well that works.

If he can’t get what he wants, he’s hinting at a government shutdown

Science Does Not Have All the Answers

Love Potion #9The way that scientists tell it, there’s only one way that you can be sure of the truth—if a scientist says so.

I frequent different forums over the Internet, and on Reddit it’s easy to get into a debate about Creation and Evolution that easily devolves into “I’m right because I’m a scientist”, even though the discussion was supposed to be about why Christians have trouble with TENS1.

What’s amazing is that there are many things that scientists—if they’re honest—will tell you that they don’t know (some language at destination site), and they will also state that they follow the scientific method, which means that they, at any time, might find data to disprove their hypothesis and they will begin to say that their new theory is right.  Not very convincing.

So, the next time that a scientist claims to have all the answers, do some research and you’ll find that it’s not quite as they’d have you to believe.

Gay Marriage Isn’t The Problem, It’s A Symptom

This week will mark the end of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell for the military.  A few months ago, New York State became the largest state to accept homosexual partners in “marriage”.  Many people may say “So what?  How does it affect you?”

Truth be told, the immediate effects of these rulings will not be see, because the acceptance of a homosexual lifestyle is not the problem, but a symptom.

I Don’t Care Who’s To Blame

Things are going horribly wrong for the President.  The job numbers for the last month were stagnant.  The vacation that he took was constantly criticized for extravagance—and he didn’t even get to stay the entire time because of the hurricane.  His new jobs plan which looks a lot like his old jobs plan is dead on arrival.  And he still hasn’t gotten the message that this is his economy and he won’t be running against Bush is 2012.
