Back when I first started this blog as it left Bravejournal and headed out to its own domain, I knew I needed a good logo.  So what I did was have a contest where various people—including the designer from my day job—come up with different logo ideas and I posted them on the site for a vote.  It turned out that the designer’s logo—one that I had inspired—won.  Though, I liked a different one!

That idea works, if you know people with talent, or if you have that talent yourself.  But if you really want a good looking logo, one that will make your company stand out, then  you need to find yourself some good Logo Designers.

You need people that know how to create simple yet visually interesting logos.  Someone that does it for a living, or does it on a regular basis.

You see, many people know how to take generic images, throw some fancy text with it and then charge a bunch of money for it.  What you really want is someone that understand you, someone that understands that logos are printed—sometimes in black and white—and that they are resized all the time.

And the value of a logo cannot be measured.  A logo stands out like your own name.  It’s something that builds brand and familiarity.

So, don’t choose the cheap way out.  Find someone that knows what they are doing to create your logo.  You’ll be glad that you did!
