The Final Flight

STS-133-Crew-Suits-Shuttle_rdax_676x507

This marks the final flight of the Space Shuttle Discovery on its mission to the International Space Station.  What’s neat is that there was a vote to see what music would wake up the astronauts, and the Star Trek theme song received the second-highest number of votes.

And Captain Kirk himself did the narration:

Shatner provided the voiceover for the wake-up call, which occurred at 3:23 A.M. this morning. “Space, the final frontier,” he said. “These have been the voyages of the space shuttle Discovery. Her thirty year mission: To seek out new science. To build new outposts. To bring nations together on the final frontier. To boldly go, and do, what no spacecraft has done before.” [James T. Kirk Wakes Up Shuttle Crew]

All I can say is, Fascinating.
