Security For Your Home

Awesome House Header

The other night I came home from choir rehearsal, and was upstairs talking with my wife before bed.  All of a sudden, outside our house we heard a sound—something we couldn’t make out until we stopped and paid attention.

Someone had gotten too close to a security system, and now the everyone in the neighborhood knew.

To some people, I’m sure this seems quite odd.  I mean, I know of people that do not lock their doors in their cars or to their houses while their away.  But that’s not me.  Whereas they might believe that they can just let what happens happen, I believe that it is part of my duty as a husband and father to do the best I can to protect the lives that God has blessed me with, and the things that we have.

The level to which you should go to protect your family and belongings, to me, depends on where you live.  Theft can happen anywhere—it can happen in the country where no one lives close by and it can happen in the city.  But there are places that simply necessitate more security.

I would advise that most people learn to lock their doors at night, if not their automobile.  I’ve had things stolen out of my car, as it was not in a garage.  People that would put passwords on their computer and websites should also be willing to lock their doors.

Whether you need a security system, some kind of cameras, or a dog, that depends on your risk tolerance level and your neighborhood.

What do you do for security?
