Bookmarks for September 10th through September 13th

These are my links for September 10th through September 13th:

  • Vox Popoli: There is no equality – The problem with “equality” is what people do to get there. Just like what this article states, in order to get “equality”, women are given preferential treatment. People with certain skin color and now deviant sexual choices are given preference, rights, or privileges over the “normal” people. It’s anything but equality.
  • Vox Popoli: Mailvox: economics and immigration – “Because people primarily use banks as a place to store their money. They aren’t going to take the risk of stuffing their cash under a mattress and only one in a thousand Americans utilizes precious metals as a store of value, so the Fed has realized that it can crush depositors with impunity without having to worry about mass withdrawals. In other words, what you’re describing is theoretically possible but realistically implausible. If people aren’t withdrawing their money because two percent of the banks are failing every year, they’re not going to withdraw it over zero interest either.” — Interesting. If everyone took their money out in cash and forced banks to compete for holding on to our money, what would happen?

  • America is done and dusted – “The American transition from the only global superpower to a regional power began in 2008. America is now a regional power of medium standing. So who is running the shop? The local donut shop is losing customers, but now it’s bringing in a new manager. Does it matter? No, because the shop is in a bad location. It doesn’t matter who the manager is. Whether it’s the Democrats or Republicans running Congress, America is still being relegated to the dustbin of history.” — As a believer, I know that America is not God’s only country, nor does it have to survive. Is it possible that we’re headed for ruin just like the great empires before? One would be a fool to say it could not happen.
  • Althouse: “We are, of course, now against any other group burning Qurans. We would right now ask no one to burn Qurans. We are absolutely strong on that. It is not the time to do it.” – “You know, a key religious freedom value is that government must not treat different religions differently. But Obama takes one attitude toward the NYC Muslims and another toward the Florida Christian. With respect to the former, he highlighted the right and wouldn’t express an opinion about how that right should be exercised. With the later, he begrudgingly acknowledged the right after stressing the importance of the individual’s restraint and sensitivity toward others.” — This is a good point from Ann Althouse. Why the difference? She suggests it’s because Pres. Obama and Rev. Jones agree– Islam promotes radical and violent behavior. The Pres. doesn’t want to provoke them.
