Well, we’re at it again. I’ve been offered a job with the company that I first worked for out of college. So, we’re in the process of trying to find a place that we can move the family to that’s closer to the new/old job.
The question is, now that we have four children and even more stuff, how are we going to find the time or the energy to pack everything up once we find a place or sell our house?
This may be the first time that I try to find some local movers to try to help us. We’ve talked about it, and wonder what the price could be—and if our stuff would be safe.
I mean, it’s not as if I need Los Angeles movers—that would be interesting, but unnecessary. I just need some movers that would do nice work at an affordable price.
I’ve read a little about HireAHelper.com, which has a fascinating system. You simply search for a helper in your area and they will list quotes (you can read reviews of their past performance). Then they will contact you and you pay Hire A Helper with your credit card. After the work is done, they get the money.
It really seems like an interesting place and the competition could drive down prices.
Anyone have any experience with them or other movers?
When we moved before we didn’t have movers, we just hauled everything up ourselves. Was actually a fun day for the family. But I guess that would be more convenient.

Posted by Rox | Click On Portal | April 21, 2010, 7:21 amOh my, I wish I had names in moving to recommend, but I’m actually in the same boat as you. Except I haven’t moved for 13 years, so I’m practically concreted into my current home. Funny, when I was younger I had younger friends who didn’t mind lifting my heavy furniture. Now we all have bad backs and pizza/beer isn’t enough of an incentive to spend 14 hours sweating anymore. I guess it’s official: I’m old!!! I’m going to check out HireAHelper.com. Thanks for that.
