Barcodes and You

Future Header

Do you remember life before bar codes?  I do.  I remember going with my mom to the grocery store, where everything had a little sticker on it that told you how much the item was, and the girl behind the cash register had to key in the values and make sure she keyed the right numbers.

Today everything we buy has a barcode on it—for inventory tracking, for pricing, and it makes it so that it is faster to check out.  I mean, they even have systems where you can swipe your own barcode and check out!

Barcodes are handy for any business that uses tracking technology—retail or warehousing.  Tools like the Motorola-Symbol MC 75 make it easy to carry around a portable bar code reader and adjust prices, count inventory, etc.

However, at one point there was a lot of fear of barcodes—just like there is some fear of RFID, etc.  What do you think about barcodes?
