What Did You Do For Wedding Invitations?

Beauty in Whole Header

This summer was a great summer for my family in that my sister-in-law got married!  It was a small affair at the local justice of the peace, but there was family and friends present, and it was a beautiful day.

The interesting thing was that, because it was being planned so quickly, a lot of the details were up in the air until a week before the actual day.  That meant that there was not a lot of time to come up with actual invitations—which reminded my wife and I of how much planning and preparation actually goes into a wedding where you have people other than the immediate family involved.

For our wedding, my mother-in-law (who has a side business doing and selling rubber stamps) made each of our invitations by hand.  Those who received those invitations had something individual and unique—even if she wasn’t intending to make them that way.

For my brother’s weddings, we received very elegant purchased invitations.  All of them received pretty much after we’d already confirmed, but nice in every way.

Nowadays, there are many great places online where you can see many types of designs and choose the one that best suits you and that will reflect your love for each other and for your family and friends.  Your invitation is really your first public announcement about your intentions and it reflects what you have in store!

When you went about planning your wedding, what kind of wedding invitations did you use?  How did you make them individual and unique?

If you aren’t married yet, what are you thinking about doing with your invitations?  Anything interesting or novel?

Sorry MIn, can’t help you there. I got married by the Justice of the Peace. Sad, but true.

After quite a bit of research, I had a close friend who had extensive experience in graphic design and printing help me put together my own invitations. While they came out beautifully, they were still expensive even if I was charged only for materials. Regardless, the were lovely and really set the tone for the entire event.
