I was watching a video by Ken Ham of Answers In Genesis the other day and he was talking about the family. What was amusing was that this video was made while his son was at college—the same college I attended. We were both in the same year, the same major.
In any case, I remember the events that Ham was foretelling—his son dating and getting married. That raised in my mind, again, the question about dating and Christians.
You see, I see all sides of the story.
I totally agree with the courtship crowd when it comes to parental involvement. I believe that if you keep the parents out at the early stages, you’re likely to have problems later on—problems that could be avoided.
However, I met my wife on AIM1 and my cousin met his on E-Harmony. I’m not saying this is for everyone, but if you read any christian dating reviews you can see that there are people out there that are truly searching.
So, my question is, is it wrong for Christians to use online dating? Is it wrong for Christians to date period?

why should’t christian use dating services online.christian are also human na.

Posted by MInTheGap | June 11, 2009, 10:05 pmIs it wrong for Christians to use online dating sites? My view is that online dating websites function as highly effective channels to help single Christian men and women filter through a large number people to find potential mates which they can initiate contact with. These websites are particularly helpful to Christians who find themselves in communities where eligible singles are no longer available. There are of course many steps between initial contact to committed relationship/marriage but just as a means to find new eligible singles who might share your faith, you can’t beat online dating sites.

Posted by Charlie | July 26, 2010, 5:24 pmI’m Christian and I don’t see why that should keep me from using online dating sites. It’s the same as dating in “real life” with even less temptations than on a face to face date.
Posted by Martha Price | August 4, 2010, 8:20 amIt is perfectly acceptable for Christians to use online dating. As an earlier poster said, it is similar to real life dating, except you get to know a person for awhile before you decide to go out.
I believe it’s an advantage to go online. You can really “interview” a person for awhile and get to know him or her and really decide if you want to go a step further.

Posted by Terrence | October 21, 2010, 3:47 pmExactly you can really put someone under the microscope and decide if you want to go to that next step. Another advantage if you join a Christian dating site is the members are like minded people cause they are of the same faith.

Posted by Charlie | December 21, 2010, 10:32 pmOne of the major changes is internet dating. There are so many American singles dating others online, something that was not considered a “real date” just ten years ago! Yet, these online and virtual relationships have sparked romances, and even marriages, which just show how much of an influence the internet is on our lives these days. Finding other people sharing your faith is a plus.

Posted by Joy | April 9, 2011, 4:37 pmThe guys I’ve met at church have been one or all of the following: already married, sex addicts, emotionally abusive, alcoholics, hopelessly immature and still living with mom, scared to ask a girl out unless they see you have an online dating profile first. Yep, I may as well date online where I can at least make sure he’s actually a Christian before my emotions get involved or I am tempted physically.
Posted by Kari | April 19, 2011, 3:20 pmFirst dates can be nerve-wracking and it is very easy to say or do the wrong thing. Some singles are more comfortable than others when it comes to going out on dates. For those that are inexperienced or just too shy, there are several online resources that can help singles navigate through various dates. The onset of the Internet has made it so easy to obtain information on any subject matter. This is a great place for singles to search for ways to improve the quality of their dates.
