The War On Capitalism

Homeless Man and Dog

Brought to you by the same government that brought you the War on Drugs, the War on Poverty, and the War on Terrorism.

This latest war was pronounced by the newly inaugurated President Barak Obama, but make no mistake, it started under President George W. Bush back in the fall of 2008.

The Third Bush Presidency

I find it ironic that the Obama campaign did its best to paint Sen. John McCain as the continuation of the same old theme, when it really is Pres. Obama that is living up to that reputation—except in the social/moral realm.

War on Terror

  • Former Pres. Bush wanted to increase troop levels in Afghanistan—Pres. Obama did it.
  • Former Pres. Bush laid the groundwork for troop withdrawal from Iraq—Pres. Obama is carrying it out.

War on Capitalism

  • Banks and housing market tumble.  Pres. Bush states that the government is the solution through tax cuts and infusions of government capital—Pres. Obama implements plan.

The only difference is that whereas Pres. Bush stated that he believed in capitalism, and believed that the government would give the private sector back the reigns of control when the crisis had been averted, Pres. Obama actually believes government is the answer to every problem and is using the crisis to put into place programs so that we become totally dependant on it.

Listen to this from Larry Kudlow:

Let me be very clear on the economics of President Obama’s State of the Union speech and his budget.

He is declaring war on investors, entrepreneurs, small businesses, large corporations, and private-equity and venture-capital funds.

That is the meaning of his anti-growth tax-hike proposals, which make absolutely no sense at all — either for this recession or from the standpoint of expanding our economy’s long-run potential to grow.

How in the world do we ever expect to pay back the debt that he just signed into law?  How much cutting back would it take to even make a dent in it?  How can we blindly stand by while Pres. Obama and company mortgage our children and grandchildren’s futures with his policies of big government spending, and watch as our neighbors lose their jobs simply because this man believes that we should all rely on the government to make things equal?

  1. Total futility. Spending is the new mantra and the stock markets are reacting. Sell off continues. Which, as I look at the widget ExactPrice http://www.learcapital.com/exactprice I get the idea that investors are turning to the precious metals to hedge against the inflation that government printing presses are going to lead too.

Frankly I’m not seeing much change from one administration to the next, unless even bigger government is change. Our children’s futures aren’t just being mortgaged, they’re being enslaved.

  2. Min, I wouldn’t call it “blindly standing by.” I would call it “wailing in despair while our elected officials squander and spend what isn’t theirs.” I honestly feel like my hands are tied. We have one Rep. senator in our state; the other is a Dem. and one of the most liberal in the country. I don’t WANT to stand by, but at the same time I feel powerless to do anything. Our elected officials don’t listen to the people who got them into office. So what’s a private citizen to do?

  3. Yes. And even more ironic that it’s John McCain who’s trying to stop it… He was the only one who had the courage to stand up and say that Obama was being hypocritical by agreeing to the $410 billion spending bill stuffed with earmarks.

I now truly feel that spending in Washington has gone out of control. And 6 months down the line, they’ll all be wondering where these trillions of dollars dissappeared to. And we’ll be having this same debate over another round of stimulus.

  4. I got to agree with Rachel. I feel pretty powerless too. The politicians just to seem like they care to listen anymore.
