Me, I’m not a very big football fan. I mean, I know the rules, I’m aware of most of the plays, and I’ve played in my front yard. I’m not a die hard fan, and most of the time that I’ve watched the Super Bowl I’ve done so for the commercials.
That’s right, everyone knows that on Super Bowl Sunday there’s a ton of eyeballs, and so there’s also a bunch of dollars spent to try to make an impression—and they don’t usually fail to disappoint.
Now, I know that there are good ads and bad ads—and you have to be careful about the ads because you never know what advertisers are going to do to try to get a bunch of grown men’s attention.
That being said, there’s already been some controversy surrounding some of the ads. There’s the one from the Catholic Group showing that President Obama was a prime candidate for an abortion and the Peta ad that shows lewd behavior between women and vegetables.
One that’s less controversial, but just as news worthy is the cash4gold ad that is highlighting some of what America is going through financially. This company buys gold and jewelry that you have lying around the house and turns it into cash—well, not magically, they pay you for it.
Whatever the case, I’m sure there’ll be records broken and stories to tell, but the important thing is that we keep things in perspective and realize it’s just a game—isn’t it?
Seems to me the ads being made now are trying too hard to stand out and get the media’s attention. Some of the ads were still watchable though, like the Careerbuilder ad.
