How Would You Rate Your Web Host?
If you were to sit down and write a list of the things that you’d think that would make a good web host, what would make your list?
Would good web hosting include…
- A Good Price?
- A Good Help Desk?
- A Certain Set of Features?
- High Bandwidth?
- High Disk-space?
- Many Positive Recommendations?
What order would you place these, do you have others?
The reason I ask is that one of the most difficult things to deal with today is the fact that web hosts do go down—and handling that time period can mean the difference between a good web host and a bad one.
I’m fortunate in that I had a guy that was in the web hosting business select our web host for us when we started hosting church sites some three years ago. No web host is perfect, but the one that we are with is reasonable (especially for Windows Hosting) and is fairly responsive.
If I could change one thing, though, it’d be the fact that my e-mails are sometimes associated with spam (I never know if my e-mail message really got through) and that sometimes they’re a little over-secure so some things that I’ve tried to run don’t work.
What I’ve found really neat, though, is that reselling web hosting is a great way to help people get a small business or hobby going, and nothing beats knowing the person that can help you in a pinch.
