One thing you need to learn when you get your own webhosting is what your cPanel is and how to use it.
What is a cPanel? It’s your control panel. From there you can set up your database, your FTP accounts (to move files from place to place), your e-mail accounts, and you can upgrade your plans.
cPanels are powerful. From there you can see all of your settings, get help, and see your current balance. And if you’re going to run a blog, there area few things that you definitely need to do.
- Set up a database.
- Set up a user that has dba permissions on your database.
- Set up your FTP user.
- Set up your e-mails.
With that last one, when I set up Is This Modest? I set up e-mail forwards for the different kind of people that would be part of writing posts and quick reviews for the sites.
So, get to know your cPanel, and be in awe of its power!
