How Much Is Your Purity Worth?

Natalie DylanMiss Natalie Dylan believes that her purity (at age 22) is worth $1,000,000 and wants to auction off that purity to the highest bidder.

“I don’t think auctioning my virginity will solve all my problems, but it will create some financial stability,” the 22-year-old (who uses the pseudonym “Natalie Dylan”) says on tonight’s The Insider. “I’m ready for the controversy … I’m ready to do this.”

Dylan says she’s already taken a polygraph test to prove her virginal status. She is also willing to undergo a medical exam.

eBay stayed far away from this one, so she’s using a Nevada Brothel.  That should have raised some red flags.

Sex as a Commodity

It’s not new, though I don’t know that it truly is the “World’s Oldest Profession”1.  As early as Jacob in the Old Testament book of Genesis we know that there were prostitutes2.

And it doesn’t end there.  CNN did an article3 which talked about what all sorts of women would trade the use of their bodies for:

  • Stephanie Gerson wanted to get into the thick of the Amazon rain forest.  When no tour would take her past the forest’s edge, she found a busboy at a resort who she flirted with and bedded so that she could see the inside of the forest.
  • Rocky Fino, author of “Will Cook for Sex: A Guy’s Guide to Cooking”, says that sex will motivate him to go above and beyond the call of duty.
  • Ben Corbett, a construction worker, gets women that flirt with him, will run around in their pajamas when he’s on a project, etc.

Why this flippancy about the most powerful thing in many lives?  CNN will claim it’s biology.  I claim it’s promiscuity.

The New Morality

Young Couple The new morality defines your worth in the pleasure you can get for yourself—what you get out of it.  It has declared that no one is hurt in a sexual relationship4, and that you should have as many as you want.

Unless, of course, the tables are turned and the girl that was sleeping around to climb up the ladder is told to put out or else she’s going to get fired.  Then it’s harassment.

The new morality claims to give you more freedom, but instead gives you more bondage.  It robs you of your value—as a person, as a sexual being, and as a future partner to someone.  In exchange it gives you temporary pleasure (if that) and the feeling that you need more or that something’s missing.  It sees sex as an end unto itself, rather than the means of cementing a lasting relationship.

And it sees sex as a commodity.  Something to be bartered with and passed around at will.

The sad thing is, the same girls or women that cringe at the Miss America contests also push for women to be able to have sex with whomever whenever—and would seek to decriminalize prostitution.  All that would do is change the number from 1-10 to a dollar figure.

How Much Is Your Purity Worth?

It’s the most precious thing you have to give.  It’s the only thing that you alone can give.  You can’t buy it—it’s price is incalculable.

You can’t get it back once it is gone—though you can pledge to not let it go any further.  It belongs to your spouse, and no one else.

Your purity is worth everything when it comes to your relationship.  It’s worth everything when it comes to fact that you’re a complete person—you’re not just a bunch of organs, an animal.  You’re a human with feelings, with needs, desires and wants, and you deserve more than to be treated as an object, trading away something that valuable for money, status, or fame.

You’re worth waiting for.

  1. Adam was a gardener and a scientist of sorts (classifying all the different kinds of animals).  Since this came before sin, and also before there were multiple women, I would assume that either of these truly owns the title. []
  2. Jacob’s daughter-in-law dressed as a harlot to get Jacob to fulfill his duty to bring forth a children to the woman’s family name. []
  3. Bartering sex for stuff or services []
  4. Unless, of course, the girl gets pregnant—and then it’s the girl that’s hurt, not the baby that she aborted—or one of them gets a disease. []

  1. Great post, MIN. I do think purity is invaluable and it’s sad to see this woman auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder.

First of all, it’s disturbing to see this woman value herself in terms of her virginity. Although I agree with remaining pure until marriage, I don’t believe we must value ourselves (or our spouse) based only on the status of our virginity. Is this prostitution? Absolutely! She is selling her body to the highest bidder and I believe this story is making so much news because it is disturbing on so many levels.

Giving your body to someone should be an expression of the ultimate love and committment and should only be done in the covenant of Marriage. Marriage is a huge committment, you are pledging your life to someone throughout sickness, health, old age, and whatever other problems may come your way. Only then is sex beautiful, not when it is sold as commodity.
