Ahh, school has almost arrived, and for the MInTheGap family that means that we’re about to start homeschooling our first child. The excitement of beginning this new adventure is palpable, and the excitement is building.
Ok, so we’re excited, and curious about how it will all work out, all at the same time.
Do you remember getting ready for school when you were a kid? I can remember, every year, getting my books and having to get brown paper bags to cut and wrap each book. Remember that?
We were able to take each book and use Color labels
, crayons, stickers, and other decorations on our books to indicate they were ours. Then again, when I got to high school the same coverings were used to write messages to me that I really didn’t appreciate—but that’s another story.
There’s something neat about a new school year, about getting new material. Things are fresh, there seems to be no yesterday, and it’s not like you’ve been working all year and it’s just another day.
I think that’s one of the things I miss in the working world—many of the days seem to flow one right into another.
So this year, spend time getting excited with you children—no matter how they’re being schooled, and remember back to the things you did and smile. You made it, and they’ll make it too.
I miss the school days too – especially getting 3 months off a year!
