Take Care of Your Heart
The Heart. In Bible times people talked about hiding things in your heart because it was thought to be the seat of your being.
Today, we know that much of who we are in is our heads, but that doesn’t stop the respect we have for that blood-pumping muscle in our chest. We still use its symbol to display love (using an actual picture would gross people out!), and we still respect the work it does every day.
The heart serves a very important function—a we were just reminded a few days ago with the passing of Tim Russert. The truth is that many of us can have degrees of heart failure – which isn’t failure of the heart (meaning “you’re dead”) as much as it is failure to perform correctly.
Fortunately, there are medical treatments (some with devices) that can help you have a regular rhythm. For more information, please check the link above—and take care to eat right and see your doctor.
