Alcohol and Boating Safely
The main promise of Alcohol is that it will let you lose some of your inhibitions. It impairs your cognitive processes such that you do not have full control of your faculties.
We’ve all heard the radio spots and seen the television commercials about not drinking and driving, but did you know that 1/3 of all boating accidents nationwide, and 50% of all fatal boating accidents in the state of Arizona were alcohol related?
It’s really not worth it. Not worth it for the person driving the boat, not worth it for the passengers. Please don’t be Boating Operating Under the Influence.
Also, unlike driving a car, there is no training for boat operation. Fortunately, Arizona Boating offers Boating Education Online which will help you learn all you need to know about boating and even give you an exam to test your proficiency. You owe it to yourself, if you will be operating a boat, to stay sober and get educated.
