@Loc: I guess what the article was trying to point out is the number of male children was statistically higher than it should be.

I don't think that you can argue the logic, however, that says in other countries where the number of children is limited or you can abort for any reason, and if male children are prized higher that the ratio of males to females will be really out of whack.

Are people really using abortion to give themselves a male child, or are they simply using other methods of getting male children, in-vitro for example. All the census stated was that the more female children you have the more likely you are to have a male one, it stated nothing of cause.

@Bhawan: Of course, as a pro-life person myself, I treasure all life-- both the boys and the girls. There's a reason that we shouldn't be tampering with life in the womb that goes beyond the injustice of murder, and that is we're flawed, sinful human creatures that seem to do a better job of messing things up than fixing it.

Is it social pressure or our own preferences or a fashion/trend to have a boy baby or our preset mind which says we want a boy baby only. Well I am amazed that even in America people got trapped in this discrimination of boys and girls, they too are giving preference to a boy child. America is a country of so called educated & well cultured persons, but here I would like to add that if we keep on killing girls in this way, then there won’t be left any culture in our societies at all. So there is a strong need to make people aware of the fact that killing girl child will cause serious problems for the society, for the whole humanity in the near future.
Recently I came to know about a project started by an Indian spiritual master Anandmurti Gurumaa , that project is named as Shakti . While I was reading about them I came to know that Shakti means Power. In Indian Culture Shakti is a synonym for girls, for Goddess Durga, well that is a different thing that in India present situation is completely different. There is a need that everyone should be aware of this fact that child sex ratio is declining day by day.
