LED Lights for Christmas

Ornament on the TreeTomorrow we have a few things on the agenda:

  • Haircuts
  • Finish Up Christmas Shopping
  • Decorate the outside of our house

When we were in WalMart the other day we started to look  at was using LED mini lights for our lighting.  There are many reasons why these lights are so attractive:

  • They do a good job lighting (especially outside)
  • They are cheaper to run
  • They are longer lasting

What was disappointing in the store was the low selection.  In previous years there seemed to be many more lights in stock.  I think that we must have hit the stores late– or maybe we weren’t look in the right place.

Virtuous Blonde really likes the blue lights– though she’s always been partial to white lights for decoration.

Did you know that LED mini lights are 80% more efficient than standard incandescent mini-lights? They will also last for more than 50,000 hours compared to 2000 for incandescent lights.

At one store where you can get them, HolidayLED, their LED mini lights feature a weather proof 1 piece construction which makes them more durable for outdoor use than the kind offered at places like WalMart.

So, you can’t go wrong with LED lights.  I’m not saying that you should go throw out your old lights right now (we have lights that I bought in college on our Christmas tree because they’re 8 functions in one strand), but you should consider picking up some LED lights to save on electric costs and gain durability– especially outside!
