Have You Started Your Christmas Shopping?
This is a neat year for Christmas Shopping. It’ll be our first year of shopping without having any debt.
Ever since this summer when we paid off the last of our credit debt we have been saving money to both get our emergency fund back up and have money for Christmas– we wouldn’t want to go back into debt, now would we?
This past weekend we decided that we have to sit down and start to get everything together to start buying gifts. We like to get our shopping done early.
Have you started buying gifts yet? I know that some people actually exchange gifts at Thanksgiving, and that means that you probably have a lot of it done already. For those of us who still have gift buying ahead of us (and I have two birthdays right around Christmas!) you’ll want to consider Sunshine Rewards– a program that allows you to earn cash back while shopping.
They have traditional coupons and discounts listed, and will have special sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday! I know of a lot of ladies around me that try to get the best deals on Black Friday, but unless it’s compelling I’d rather avoid the rush.
So, take a look at Sunshine rewards, a family owned company that’ll treat you like family, and get cash back for your holiday purchases.

I’ve started making my lists, but it’s debatable whether we’ll have enough left after property taxes to buy much! I’m thankful that most of the family gifts can be home-baked/made.
Last year we had a little more money than usual at Christmas, and the lesson I learned is that Christmas is much more enjoyable when everyone has one or two nice gifts rather than a multitude of little things to unwrap. The whole process gets annoying after a while!! Not to mention old for the kids. They’re so happy with one or two fun gifts, and by the time you’ve been to both grandparents and all the cousins and exchange all those gifts, whew!
I think it’s really neat that you and your wife do this planning together. Usually I’m prodding my dh, saying, what are we going to get your dad, or your brother, or your boss?
And he just stares at me unblinking. We do have fun shopping together for the kiddos though.

I am reading all about people complaining about stores taking Christmas out of the retail marketing this holiday…stating you should keep Christ in Christmas….what I don’t understand is how all these people have brought Christmas down to the level of being about shopping..folks..Christmas is not about shopping…so make a nice cake…place a few candles and try to remember it’s not about shopping…giving..getting…it’s about a birthday…and it’s not mine or yours…it’s Jesus….love one another on 12/25/2007…

Great point Tammy. I think it is about giving– the giving of God’s Son to the world to save us and the Magi bringing gifts to Jesus, but it is all about Him.
