Have You Been to New York City?
Many moons ago (that’s Indian lingo for a few years back) I was sent by my company with another man that I worked with to New York City. We flew into town and were driven to a convention center near Madison Square Garden for a Microsoft Convention.
After the conference we had some time to kill before our next flight, so we decided to see some of the sights. (This was before 9/11.) So, the two of us found Macys and walked through that store, and then made our way to the Empire State Building.
We decided to take the tour, and rode the elevators up to the different levels as we went higher and higher into the air. We ended up at the observation deck around dusk, and I got some great pictures before we made our way back down to get back to the airport for our flight.
One of the things that I didn’t get to do that if I had the chance I would do would be to use one someone that provided New York Tours to take me on a tour of the Statue of Liberty. One particular tour that really interests me is the Gateway to America Harbor Tour of New York.
This tour seems like the perfect thing for someone like me that likes both history and politics– because through this tour you get to see not only the statue, but also Ellis Island, Brooklyn and Verrazano Bridges, Fort Wadsworth, and Castle Clinton. If that’s not enough, you get to learn about the military bases that defended America during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812!
Taking a tour lets you have people that are familiar with the place tell you things that they know and lets you ask questions– definitely something that adds to the experience.
