Small Business Phone Solution

On the PhoneSome of you may know that I am actually involved with helping some friends start a small business.  One of the difficult things about starting off small is that you really want people to get a hold of you– the people that want your business.  Instead, what you tend to get were solicitors that want to sell everything from office materials to credit card calls.

This is fine– if you have a building, a secretary, or someone to take these calls.  When you’re starting out using your home phone, it means that someone else has to handle the calls– and then the embarrassing situation where the person calling realizes that it’s a home they called…

For some time we’ve been looking for a phone solution, and we haven’t arrived on one, though today I’ve seen Packet8 Virtual Office that has solutions for those needing a small business phone.

These guys have some great opportunities for all sizes of businesses.  Some of the more interesting things are a Virtual Extension (with a mail box, auto-attendant routing, switchboard viewing, and no phone or adapter needed), Unlimited Extension (unlimited calls to US/Canada) and Metered Extension (250 outbound minutes US/Canada).

I believe that the last would be the best plan for the business, since I would expect the business to get more incoming calls than outgoing– “How do I?” type calls, but the price of unlimited makes it a viable option.

So if you have a small business with people in different locations, or all in the same place, go over to the site and take a look– there are lots of different options and I’m sure you’ll find one that’ll fit your business.
