Colleen-- I think there must be a movie on the topic, and it is a great idea.

Jenna-- It must be nice being in a "home" where you can actually have the homey feel without feeling that your intruding.

Mary-- That's interesting that the Amish would open their home, must be a kind that has electricity? In any case, still in the planning stages for the Creation Museum. Maybe we can stay at Ken Ham's home...

There is also some Amish or Mennonite travel guide, where they open up their home to travelers for a very affordable rate. Wish I could remember what the travel guide was called, but it listed names/addresses/phone numbers and how many rooms they had available. They'd even let you set up a tent on their property for a very small fee. My husband does not like staying with people he doesn't know, so this wasn't an option for us, but I thought it was a grand idea. I'm always up for meeting new people from different walks of life.

So I think your home swap idea is a great one. Think we could find a huge condo in Kentucky and all share it...that is, if we ever plan a MInTheGap Creation Museum field trip?

My mom and dad did that when they took a vacation to Hawaii. I heard nothing but good things about their experience, and how comfortable they were. :)

We looked in to this idea a few years ago when we were headed to England. We ended up renting a Carriage House, but there were many house swap options! I think they made a movie about that or something.
