W.Va. School Board Sued Over Jesus Artwork

A painting that has hung in this school for more than 30 years is under attack from the Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the West Virginia American Civil Liberties Union. Why, do you ask? Because it sends the message that Bridgeport High School endorses Christianity as its official religion.

Word has it that there is also a picture of the founding school principal that establishes the Founder religion as well. I mean, come on. This painting does nothing to establish the school’s religion. One wonders if students in the school have any idea who the man in the portrait is! The school board was tied on removing the painting.

You can go to great lengths saying that certain things violate some kind of vague separation of church and state that doesn’t exist in the Constitution, but this one’s far from that– it’s a painting that’s been there for a while. It’s not saying anything. It’s not the Ten Commandments. What’s the big deal?

  1. *quivers with irritation*

I really dont think I can say anything else…..

    *quiver*

ARG! and only HALF the people on the board were in favor of keeping it.

    Arg again!

  2. Don’t these groups have better things to do then find random Christian things around the country to sue over? Sheesh.

  3. What about the possibility of pulling out of Iraq, letting Iran invade and lose resources fighting their own kind,
and then come in and mop up the dregs?

  4. Though I don’t know why this was commented here, I believe that while we are there we are dividing the group and they are attacking each other. Once we leave, they will be able to come after their “common enemy” and unify behind that.
