Another Use for a Super Soaker?

Two physicians, in a December note in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, wrote glowingly of the ability of the Super Soaker Max-D 5000 squirt weapon to quickly and safely loosen severely impacted ear wax (knowledge learned from an emergency use when no standard ear-syringing equipment was available). In fact, they wrote, since the Super Soaker holds much more water than the standard equipment, using it would actually shorten patients’ office visits. (However, the Super Soaker was obviously not anticipated for medical use; its awkward design assured that patient and doctor would be drenched by excess spray.)

Should We Be Afraid?

January 13th, 2006 Viewed 1191 times

ABC News is reporting the following:

Federal agents have launched an investigation into a surge in the purchase of large quantities of disposable cell phones by individuals from the Middle East and Pakistan, ABC News has learned. The phones — which do not require purchasers to sign a contract or have a credit card — have many legitimate uses, and are popular with people who have bad credit or for use as emergency phones tucked away in glove compartments or tackle boxes. But since they can be difficult or impossible to track, law enforcement officials say the phones are widely used by criminal gangs and terrorists.

“There’s very little audit trail assigned to this phone. One can walk in, purchase it in cash, you don’t have to put down a credit card, buy any amount of minutes to it, and you don’t, frankly, know who bought this,” said Jack Cloonan, a former FBI official who is now an ABC News consultant.

Law enforcement officials say the phones were used to detonate the bombs terrorists used in the Madrid train attacks in March 2004.

“The application of prepaid phones for nefarious reasons, is really widespread. For example, the terrorists in Madrid used prepaid phones to detonate the bombs in the subway trains that killed more than 200 people,” said Roger Entner, a communications consultant.

Now, should we be afraid of the quantity of these things? I mean, either there is a large number of people needing them, or they are just buying them in large quantities so they don’t have to go back for more. If there’s one thing we learned from the terrorist attacks on 9/11, the terrorists had a lot of money, paid cash, and didn’t mind doing things on the lavish side.

Still, to be safe, keep your eyes open!

Condom Key Chain

The same Planned Parenthood that brought you the “Choice on Earth” Christmas cards (somewhat implying that Mary should have aborted?) has now gone a step further in a new line of key chain condoms. The one pictured right is causing quite the bit of stir.  All told, there are 28 different versions of the key chain– everything from a take off of “Uncle Sam wants you” to the Statue of Liberty with a Condom.

My first thought is repulsion at the gimmick. Is nothing private to these people? They try to sexualize everything.  They try to bring out all of this stuff and proclaim from the hilltops something that should be private!

Next comes suspicion. Since we know that they are all about making money off abortion, I wonder what the quality and longevity of these birth control devices are. We all know there’ve been studies out there claiming that PP distributes the worst quality to the people that come get these things from them.  And since we also know that this gimmick is all about trying to normalize sexual behavior, who knows what else they are doing.

But then again I’m taken back to the audacity of using the picture of God and Adam from Michaelangelo to talk about distributing birth control!?  I guess I shouldn’t expect them to know their Old Testament, where this God commanded Adam (and later Noah) to be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth. Much different than PP’s message of “have fun, don’t have a child, and if you find you’re pregnant, we can take care of that too…”

Makes my skin crawl!
