More Results of a Society Where Anything Goes

This is shocking:

Sixty-five — again, 65 — of Timken High School’s 490 girl students are pregnant.

That’s a number confirmed by Principal Kim Redmond, whose staff, in less than a week, will inherit a problem it had no part in causing.

Whose fault is it that more than 13 percent of Timken’s girls are with child? Some would say fault-finding isn’t a fruitful exercise, but in this case, it’s critical. Suspects range from movies, TV and video games to lazy parents and lax discipline. Only one thing is sure: Schools don’t impregnate children.

“This has gotten to horrible proportions,” said Redmond. “I wish I knew the answer to why it’s happening.”

She doesn’t know why this is happening?! The first thing I thought of was that maybe she should go back to biology class! The second thought I had was the fact that we, as a society, have created this problem.

First, we emphasize education above everything. That’s how you determine worth. If you read the rest of the article, the author bemoans the fact that these girls and boys cannot accomplish their education goals. I could easily go off on a rabbit trail here on the fact that public school classrooms are not the place to intense education. As this author points out, academics here are not really a priority. But that would be a digression. In this world, forming solid relationships and having families takes second place to education and jobs.

Note: I’m not condoning fornication, but what I am saying is that because education is the most important thing to us, in other societies where kids would be getting married, etc., we’re putting our kids in schools together and then wondering why the natural hormones God created in us are hard for them to control.

Second, we do not emphasize enough the value of waiting until marriage to have children. In this world where children are bombarded all the time with sexually explicit material and more information on these matters than ever before, it is not surprising that they are trying these things, especially because God made the acts feel good. Furthermore, as you can see in the article, the boys that commit this fornication are lauded as heroes and those that wait are seen as geeks and nerds. This is something that society has done– we laud the out of marriage intercourse on our TV shows. The man that take another man’s wife because her husband was bad is the good guy, etc.

Lastly, and most important, we are a society that lives for the god of self, rather than the God of Universe. If we really understood that we have a Creator and He has a plan and expectations of us, we would think twice before violating that plan.
