Married Men Earn more than Bachelors

From Reuters in London, it appears that not only is heterosexual
marriage honoring to God and the best way to raise offspring!  A survey
done in England showed that married men whose wife stayed home earned more than singles:

Academics Elena Bardasi and Mark Taylor found that a married man whose
wife does not go out to work but is primarily responsible for the
cooking and cleaning earns about 3 percent more than comparably
employed single men.

But that wage premium disappears if wives go out to work themselves or don’t do most of the housework.

So, there you have it– a study showing that the traditional family
pattern has yet more advantages.  Don’t expect the feminists and
liberals to accept this study or advocate this kind of thing any time
soon.

That doesn’t make ANY sense at all! Can you provide a link to the study or at least the studie’s name? Does it explain WHY a man’s income would go down if a women got a job? And what about studies that show that women who work have a higher income than those women who don’t work.

I linked to the article, which did not link to the study itself. It did provide the authors of the study.

One of the authors hypothesized 2 possible causes: 1. That it allowed men more time to hone work related skills or 2. That it allowed men more time to work at their job.

As for women who work versus don’t work pay, I’ve seen a lot of information and statistics regarding the costs of replacing the mother in the home with appropriate personnel. Mainly, childcare, maid, etc. In fact, I believe this past Mother’s day someone estimated that if a SAHM was to get paid a salary based on her jobs, she would be making $100,000 a year on average.

You don’t NEED a maid!!!! And once your child is over the age of 12 you don’t need day care either! I’m sorry to say that you were completely misinformed and that was not an ‘accurate’ study, definatly one that no expert in his/her right mind would rely on. I think you’ve been PUNK’D!

Well, when Salary.com averaged out the money, they factored in cleaning which would be done by a maid. I also think they included chauffer, and other things that you don’t *NEED* but are part of the things that a mom at home does.

Are you implying that once a child is over 12 they are safe at home and don’t need parental supervision? I wouldn’t even trust a 14/15 yr old to watch my children, let alone a 12 year old. The fact that parents are home has a direct correlation to what mischief they get into. If you don’t believe that, you’re kidding yourself.

Lastly, just because you don’t agree with a study doesn’t discredit it.
